Road Trip: New London Submarine Base

Naval Submarine Base New London is the Navy's first Submarine Base and the "Home of the Submarine Force."

The main base occupies more than 687 acres. It is also home to more than 530 acres of family housing, 17 attack submarines, and the Navy's nuclear research deep submersible NR-1.

Groton, Connecticut is also home to the U. S. Navy Submarine Force Museum, and the USS NAUTILUS (SSN 571)
