Don’t ever vote for anyone ‘evil’ if that is what you think of them. Check my posts, I was livid about Juan f’ing pro-amnesty McCain’s sellout... And I was livid with Bush. But I never regretted voting for Bush or any Republican. They may have let me down from time to time, but they always did far more good than bad. And I see McCain similar way, when you put it all together, war on terror, spending, immigration, taxes/economy, etc. his signature actions with Democrats are bad, but his overal lifetime ACU record is 80% conservative.

Where I come down is simple. In the primary - no way - I am voting for Romney. In the general, I will cast a reluctant but sure vote for the best man on the ballot to lead the nation. He will be far far better than Obama/Clinton. half a loaf, but a worthwhile half a loaf, since it includes keeping our nation safe and WINNING A WAR THE DEMOCRATS WANT TO LOSE ALREADY.

McCain has said he will put in Roberts and Alito type judges. that’s a biggie.

Now, guess how proabort obama voted on those guys and who he wants in there ...

Six — That’s the number of Supreme Court justices who will be 70 years old or older on Inauguration Day 2009. That number includes all five of the court’s left-leaning members. Court watchers predict that the next president will appoint at least two, and as many as five, justices.

Twenty-six — That’s the average tenure in years of Supreme Court justices since 1970. While presidents remain in office for four or eight years, Supreme Court appointees have the opportunity to shape our laws for a generation or more.

We know what sort of justices Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama would appoint. Both voted against John Roberts and Samuel Alito and have spoken admiringly of the court’s most liberal justices. Mr. McCain, on the other hand, voted to confirm both Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, and he has pledged to nominate “strict constructionist” judges in the mold of the court’s four conservative members. With so many Supreme Court rulings — including those concerning abortion, affirmative action, states’ rights, the Second Amendment and religious freedom — being decided by slim 5-4 margins, the prospect of either Democratic candidate nominating even one justice should be enough to rally conservatives around Mr. McCain.

“While not conceding anything to Obama in terms of his incompetence or corruption; the one advantage he poses over Hillary or McCain is that he less experienced and accomplished at screwing over the country. In that sense, he may well be the less damaging of the three candidates.”

You are young then ...
you dont remember how screwed the US was by Jimmy Carter’s incompetence and inexperience.

Obama will redouble that by being more liberal than any president before in our history.

so why the suicide pill?

Are you a leftwing bolshevik? Doubtful ... then a “a 43+ state landslide for the dims with 60+ seats in the Senate and 350+ in the house” is what you desire? How many conservatives do you hope will lose in this landslide?
The conservative candidate in Colorado? Our excellent Republican conservative Cornyn?

Do tell us, which conservatives in the House and Senate you want to see lose in this ultra-liberal tsunami and explain how this destruction of conservatives in politics will somehow be good.

It sounds more like a call for suicide.

“There is little or no difference between McCain and the DNC front runners.”

Prolife v pro-abort
ACU rating of 80% lifetime / 65% 2007 vs ACU ratings under 10% for Obama/Clinton.

Wants Alito/Roberts vs wants Ruth Bader ginsburg.

Will win in Iraq and GWOT vs demagoguing over Iraq and will sing kumbaya with dictators.

A pro-amnesty guy who now says he ‘gets it’ on the border vs an open-borders freak so outrageous he wants illegals to have drivers licenses.

A moderate-to-conservative RINO versus ultra liberals.

Yeah ... a difference. Not a great choice but a choice nonetheless. An overdone RINO meatloaf versus ‘Rat poison - which would you eat for dinner?

You do realize that our nation has made a commitment to the Iraqi people? That our integrity and credibility is at stake?

[Huckabee]’s middle ground. We have given up Hunter, Thompson, and Romney. They have given up only Rudy.

Fascinating. And you know what? You're right!

I voted my conscience this morning for the best person on the ballot (in my opinion). The best person was NOT Shrillery, Obama, or McCain.

Frankly, and I don’t like it, but the best thing for our country right now is a centrist..Some one that can and will work with both sides...Our economy needs it and our national security needs it...As you can see the dems don’t have one. So, I will vote for John McCain if he’s the nominee.

What these clueless fools at IBD and other compromisers don't understand is that it is not the responsibility of conservatives to elect liberals, RINOs, and NON-conservatives.

It is the responsibility of the political party to nominate candidates that stand for, and uphold conservative positions, IF they hope to appeal to conservative voters.

For example, let's say I go to the 'Grand Old Steak House' where I've always enjoyed a good traditionally prepared steak, and I order the 'Reagan Delmonico' as always, medium rare, and the waiter brings out a large liberal serving of ground-up RINO burger, complete with gristle ala McCain, that looks *and* smells BAD.

I tell the waiter "this isn't what I ordered", and the waiter says "it's all we have, you'll just have to eat it", and I tell the waiter to take that putrid sh*t back to the kitchen and to tell the chef to go to Hell. That's not what I ordered, I'm damn sure not going to eat it, let alone pay good money for it.

I get up and head for the door, the manager of the steak house pleads with me "oh, but you've been coming here for so long, can't you just eat this RINO burger? We don't want to go out of business if you and your fellow diners refuse to eat what we're serving!"

That's when I tell the manager in no uncertain terms, "when you stopped serving the Reagan Delmonico, you lost my business."

If the Grand Old Steak House has to close it's doors, so be it. When they presume to tell the diner what they will and will not eat, despite what is on the menu and what is preferred, that only proves that their business model no longer works, and they don't deserve any further loyalty.

I find it comical that McCain supporters insist that conservatives are making perfection be the enemy of the good.

That is incorrect.

But the acceptable is the enemy of McCain.

You are correct 100%... but the Gipper left orders to keep the libs at bay. Starve them for money Nationally and build Conservative elected officials from the ground up. We can and are doing it now.

We will lose if we don’t unite.

I agree. We will forever loose the GOP to RINOs and outright liberals if we don't do something about it. Once the flood of illegals has the right to vote, it will only take a couple of generations before we become Mexico or worse.

Rewarding the Republican party for its sellout to liberals by giving McCain the Presidency is not the answer.

Don't forget the part where the other diners, who have already decided that they'll chomp down on the RINO burger, get up and start calling you names because you won't eat the burger, and issue dire warnings about what will happen if you don't "calm down," "grow up" and settle for the RINO burger.

Instead of dismissing my questions, why dont you actually consider them. Consider the question: How can conservatives make silk purse out of this 2008 election?

I'm not dismissing your questions - you just didn't like my answers and are dismissing them yourself. The 'silk purse' moment is long gone. The best conservatives can do at this point is limit the damage. Get as many conservatives in Congress as we can. (I'm no longer using 'Republican' or 'Democrat'. The terms are now meaningless w/r political orientation.) And although you have a point about judicial appointments, if McCain is the next president, we'll have even more liberal legislation than with a Dem. The Rs will back McCain (just as they have Bush) no matter how liberal the policies (amnesty, spending). They will oppose a Dem, however, on the exact same policies.

Another issue is the long-term affect on the party. This is probably similar to your SC nomination scenario in how it can devastate the country. The GOP has been advancing left for decades. With a McCain win, the GOP establishment will consider that that's the correct path and that they don't need conservatives. But beyond that, with tens of millions of new Democrat voters (illegals), a leftward shift for decades will be inevitable. And the backlash of a McCain presidency advancing this agenda will drive the WH back into the arms of the Democrats. Not that it would matter that much, since we'll have 2 liberal parties to 'chose' from.

So our choices are pitiful, no matter how you spin it.

And as far as the justices being over 70 - McCain's there himself. If that's too old for an SC justice, it's probably too old for a president. (If the next president is a one-termer, it'll likely be the one after that that appoints more justices. Most wait to quit until they are extremely ill or very, very old.)
