I used to feel that way but when you consider the thousands of people she appoints from Supreme Court justices to cabinet secretaries and thousands of mid-level policy makers you start to appreciate how that all transcends the “podium politics” that we believe congress can hold in check.

McCain will also spout idiotic liberal crap but by virtue of his many Republican associations over the years there will inevitably be regular Republicans landing in all those appointed positions. That’s where more than half of Federal policy takes place. No one at the IRS and elsewhere will unleash a vendetta against Republicans the way it would if Hillary appointed and controlled the Federal Government.

I see your point about the judicial appointments. That is a problem. But I think looking long-term w/r the party, if we can't get a conservative elected SOON, we're doomed. Having McCain in there will reduce the chance of that, but having a Dem in there will rally conservatives for future elections. (ie., we needed a Carter to get a Reagan). Otherwise, it'll be lib vs. lib for the rest of our lives.
