(CNN) Mike Huckabee continued to cry foul Monday over the results in Saturdays Washington State GOP caucuses, saying the state party chairman's decision to call the race there early for John McCain is reminiscent of elections in communist bloc nations.
"That is not what we do in American elections," Huckabee said on CNN's American Morning Monday. "Maybe that's how they used to conduct it in the old Soviet Union, but you don't just throw people's votes out and say, 'well, we're not going to bother counting them because we kind of think we know where this was going.'
In a statement released Sunday, Huckabee's campaign said Washington's GOP Party Chairman Luke Esser called the race for McCain when Huckabee was only losing to the Arizona senator by 242 votes and over 1,500 votes remained to be counted. Esser has said he remains confident he made the right call.

This was outrageous - another clue that the fix is in for McCain. Also irregularities were reported in Florida. Does not matter who was involved - this cannot be tolerated.
A winner will not be determined until MAY, when the state delegates are chosen (1/2) and in APRIL when the primary for the other half of the delegates will be chosen. This was a caucus to determine delegates that also had a non-binding straw poll.
Well there is a statue of Lenin in Seattle if that tells you anything.
The caucus-goers are getting together anyway; might as well take a straw poll for some publicity. The delegates are chosen through a separate process that begins at the caucuses and continues through the county, district, and state party conventions.
You and the malarky-an garbage coming out of you pie hole is embarrassing us conservatives. Next time you go to the polls and Mr. Hussein Obama decides that your vote should not be counted, let me know how you feel douche.
What a bonehead remark by Huckabee. He is totally ignorant of how the Washington State Caucus works and he is making a big deal out of Nothing. No delegates to any candidate has been awarded or will be awarded from this caucus. This was just basically a tally of which way those who showed up at the caucus were leaning. The elected delegates by precinct will vote again at the district caucus in March and then again at the County Caucus, which is were the delegates will be awarded. McCain and Huckabee have until then to sway the 12.3% uncommitted and the 16.7% who in protest voted for Mitt Romney.
And Huckabee is dead wrong about votes not being counted. The counting is continuing this morning. The counting was ended Saturday because of the late hour. Would he of rather asked the small number of Republican volunteers to keep counting till 4 or 5 in the morning, which is what it would of taken?
Oh, give it a break.....it was 10:15PM on a Sat night, and most Pubs want some sleep before Church on Sunday.....they were going to continue, and HAVE continued the counting....sheesh.
Because we also gathered to discuss platform issues, move people on as delegates to the County (or District, depending upon where you live) which then will decide WHO gets to be a Delegate to the State convention where the REAL DELEGATES are decided in late May. Kind of like an organizational meeting....and it is useful for getting people involved, seeing where people stand, etc.
Texas is indeed doable for Huckabee.(...and not because he understands BBQ ). That is why Gov. Rick Perry of Texas called Huckabee begging him to drop out. If Perry can't deliver Texas for McCain his own VP prospects go out the window, and his stock with the party establishment is greatly diminished. I'm lovin' it.
What a Moron. Don’t you agree my fellow Washington Comrads?
Huckabee is totally ignorant in how the Washington State Caucus works and he is making a big deal out of Nothing. No delegates have been awarded or will be awarded by this first caucus. The delegates are not awarded until the County Caucuses in May.
The three reasons for this Feb 9th caucus was to:
1) Elect delegates from each precinct who will move on to the next caucus in March and then on to the main one in May where they will formally cast their vote for President.
2) Fill out a Party Platform Questionnaire. No one likes filling these out, but if you get free cookies, why not?
3) Take an informal poll of who the caucus attendees support as the Presidential nominee. This was nothing more than filling in blank spot on the attendance roster to the right of your name and address with the name of the candidate you support for President. If you are uncommitted we were asked just to write uncommitted in the field. At the end of the day there would be a count taken which would be used for nothing more than determining which way the party in WA is leaning.
Regardless of who was ahead when counting was suspended for the night, the important thing is, it showed that 12.3% were uncommitted and the 16.7% voted for Mitt Romney. That is ( 29% up for grabs ) not counting the 20.7 % Ron Paul people who will not be moved. By contesting this straw poll, Huckabee is not doing himself any favors if he is out to win a good chunk of the 29% by the May Caucus. Its a stupid process, that we can all agree, but it would serve Huckabee well if he would learn a little about Washingtons caucus process before calling on his attorneys.
