we had a conservative congress for how many years under Bush and they just increased spending and blew up the deficit.

I think I know what your problem is.

You're definition of conservative, and everyone else's at FreeRepublic is quite divergent.

We did not have a conservative congress under Bush, we did have some conservative members of congress.

You are confusing Republican with Conservative. Which sounds more like a democrat perspective, instead of an objective perspective.

I agree...No McCain!

And, just to help sink the Clinton II administration so we can take it back in 2012, I will vote a straight Democrat ticket in November!!

Let’s roll!

NO NO NO... not straight DEM.. WE NEED “R’s” to take back congress.. even if they are not as conservative has we would like... we need an “R” Majority in the House/Senate to take control of the committees and render the HildaBEAST powerLESS

A brokered convention gives us a shot at someone like Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson. Do you really believe that, if all the candidates had the same resources, that the ones in the running now would be the first choice of Republican rank-and-file? No, I see a huge attempt to shape public opinion from the press, to give us our choices. "Household waste or raw sewage? Which do you choose?" I chose the garbage over the sewage.

I don't like these two fellows guys either, but voted Huckabee the other day even though my first choice was Hunter, because in uniting behind one guy we can achieve some good besides just a vote for that guy. Huckabee, for all his warts, is teachable. The fact Hunter has given Huckabee some help in areas where the latter is weak did not hurt either.

It would be suicidal to put Crist as VP for the ticket because the far right and far left will use the closeted bachelor issue against him.

Honestly, the governor of MN would be a more rational choice.

1) I don’t buy gorebull warming either. But mccain lieberman will also reduce our dependence on foreign oil. The arab countries and venezuela will have less control over the economy if the market shifts away from using oil. The market will find alternatives on its own without having the govt try to pick winners and losers (such as windmills) or regulations (such as higher CAFE standards)

2) deporting millions of hispanics will ensure that the GOP will be a permanent minority. It will also create a big police state. This is a problem that is harder than the war on drugs.

We want the Dimms/Libs to be splattered by a Clinton/Obama administration....so the less Republicans/Conservatives in Congress the stronger our position will be in 2012! Voting straight Democrat in November really helps us in the longer term.

We can wade through it and come back renergized with the majority of Americans behind us.

sorry.. can’t support ANYONE who endorses Duncan Hunter.. I find it interesting the the LameStreet Media is talking up the fact that President Bush said that he would support McCain —> IF <-— he was the nomminee that is FAR SHORT of an endorsement.. even FOX reported that “President Bush gave John McCain his “seal of approval” —— NOT !!

a very interesting point but I feel if we fail to produce a conservative congress in 2008 the HildaBeast administration will have FAR more power than I am willing to concede.. however if we divert all our time/money to the congressional races we can easily retake congress and render President HildaBEAST powerless.. if will also be a GREAT example/LESSON to the WORLD that a U.S. President is POWERLESS without the support of congress.... a good lesson for all don’t you think?

Well according to your definition, there is no such thing as a conservative in elected office. I’m not talking about republicans from Maine. Even the republicans that are considered very conservative voted for all kinds of budget blowers.

yeah you win by losing. that is sooooo smart.

no, what you end up with is more poverty and more govt entitlements. You’ll end up with Chavez or castro taking control for decades.

sorry not buying it... you need to go back at read your Constitution my FRiend.. LEGISLATIVE BRANCH is EQUAL to EXECUTITY BRANCH.. your post seems to sugges that congress is beholded to the President and that is just not the case.. furthermore it is a LOT easier for convervative members of congress to aggressively OPPOSE the HildaBEAST than it would be for them to oppose McCain..

Americans want illegals deported.

The loss of a small pct of Hispano-Bigots who support illegal aliens over American citizens would be greatly surpassed by the number of Americans (on both sides of the political fence...and including many Hispanic Americans) who are tired of losing jobs and rights to illegals

McAmnesty is only attracting the same Hispano-Bigots that will end up voting for Hillary/Obama anyway.
