LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Barack Obama topped a Clinton in another contest on Sunday -- the Grammys.
The presidential candidate beat both former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter to win best spoken word album for his audio version of his book "The Audacity Of Hope: Thoughts On Reclaiming The American Dream."
Clinton was nominated for his book "Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World" and Carter for "Sunday Mornings in Plains: Bringing Peace to a Changing World." Also nominated was Maya Angelou and Alan Alda.
Sens. Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are battling for the Democratic nomination for president; both have won key states, though Obama has the most recent wins, capturing the Louisiana primary and caucuses in Nebraska and Washington state on Saturday.
Though Clinton and Carter lost, they both have won the category before (Clinton, twice). And Hillary Rodham Clinton took home a Grammy in 1996 for her audio version of the book, "It Takes A Village."
And the Cult grows...
Oh please. How revolting.
I am shocked that anyone is shocked.
“Also nominated was Maya Angelou and Alan Alda. “
My first take was, “Only liberals need apply.” But then I thought hey, Liberals are so dumb they don’t/won’t read so it is the only way to pass the stupidity.
“articulate and clean”
So is Dumbo but I would’t want Dumbo for president. Oh, but the Obama ears!
Hitler had a best selling book as well.
I heard he is a chain smoker. Don’t know if it’s true.
He will win the Nobel Prize for best fictional audio book next year.
Oh bother. Wait until this Grammy winner tries to inspire us out of the burst housing bubble and subsequent financial collapses. I’m sure that his years of “community organizing” (whatever that is) and four years in the Senate will be a deep well of experience which he can apply to produce sound policy. Not to mention the various threats to our security, both abroad and on our borders.
Yes, these adulatory knick-knacks go a long way to assure me that he would do a “bang-up job” as President.
As bad as Carter was, at least he deregulated trucking, airlines, and probably would have agreed to cut marginal tax rates had he been re-elected. I can’t find a single redeeming point among Obama’s position statements.
“Hitler had a best selling book”
Yes, Hitler was a very articulate public speaker and mezemorized crowds, to the extent that woman held their babies out to be kissed just like Obama.
Gee, in one year, the Oscars and Grammys have had any pretense of being awarded for artistry stripped from them, and have become like the British Turner Prize, now awarded only to those who use feces as a medium.
It just really perturbs me that Jack Ryan the Republican candidate Obama ran against gave the election to Barak. I think only in dirty Illinois could Obama be elected to the senate based on his experience/qualifications.
Don't know about him being a "chain" smoker but he does smoke cigarettes. He has admitted as much.
But the Left insists there is no blacklist against conservatives in Hollyweird.
“McCarthy” was an amateur compared to these Stalinists.
Turner would not win the Turner Prize today. He wouldn’t even be in the running.
“He has admitted as much.”
He is an admitted Christian. Hard to believe but that is what he believes.
It’s got to be just a coincidence how Liberal DemocRATS ALWAYS “win” this Grammy, huh? (wink wink). I guess they are better at spewing the BS than conservative GOPers are.
