Good to see some of the good news leaking out. The MSM and their Democrat friends can build their wall, but some of us can penetrate it. ;-)

Muslims are a strange breed, and your doubts have credence, but take a look at the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait and you see regimes pretty much as ordered as ours, only different. Jordan works, so far. We’ll be unlikely to see an Arab regime modeled after ours for quite a while, as religeon plays a prominent role in virtually all individual lives over there. Even Saudi Arabia was pretty darned orderly and functional in the seventies, prior to this radical wahabi resurgence. I hated the place, but their laws were obeyed more so than ours and the people were basically happy and society was functional.

There are bad eggs out there, many now with strong influence, and they are encouraged by the general decay going on in western societies. Personally, I think the only way we’ll truly stop the Middle East from worsening is to curb and reverse the liberal trends in the west. Our decay, and the weakness it breeds, feeds muslim radicalism more than anything.

Al-Qaida is not defeated, but it is on the ropes. Its membership knows that if they are foolish enough to come out of the holes they hide in, they will not only meet tough young Americans standing firm and unafraid, but also Iraqi police and soldiers in vastly increased numbers and effectiveness.

More importantly, Al-Queda is meeting resistance from regular people. These folks are no longer cowed by the AQ thugs, and are turning them in, and leading the police and military to their weapons caches, in greater numbers. This is the BEST sign that things are getting better.

AMEN! I'm just finishing reading Mark Steyn's book, "America Alone", and your comment covers the basic premise of the book.

That decay would have to include, necessarily, apologizing for our own Gospel. We didn’t apologize to the Japanese for bringing them, forcibly, into the ranks of the civilized. Why are we doing that with Sunnis and Shias and Wahabis? You don’t talk someone out of a Bhurka by wearing one.

Saw it and commented on it at Post #21. ;-)

A friend of mine called me from the States earlier this evening. He started the conversation with "How are things there?"

He heard the smile in my voice when I responded "Peaceful and calm. Just a nice, early spring evening."
