Yes it is monstrous...More a soviet style edifice.

Miranda correctly chastises:

“We have brought to Iraq the worst of America — our bureaucrats,”

Miranda better be careful. I'm sure he knows that there are people in DC who haven't forgotten his role in exposing the Rockefeller memo, found on a shared committee computer, that exposed Democrat plans to drag Bush through a series of investigations once Sen. Pat Roberts was of no more use to them.

Interesting you should post the cover of the expose' of the willful incompetence of the State Department and CIA in carrying out Bush's doctrine, particularly in Iraq.

I think what Miranda is exposing here is just what Timmerman was writing about, although he does not seem to realize that the problems are largely caused by "holdover saboteurs" fighting the attempts of the few loyal Bush appointees attempts to get anything done.

Great book - every Freeper that wants to understand "how we got here" should read it.

>>>Miranda better be careful<<<

Particularly if a Democrat becomes President. The "holdovers" Bush failed to get rid of at State will reign supreme, and they will be looking for Bushie "scalps".

Asked about the criticism, the State Department said Miranda was "entitled to his opinions" but that they were not shared by Bush or Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Therein lies the problem. And to think that over the past couple of days I've seen a couple of posters come out of the woodwork and actually try to push Rice as a VP candidate.

Me, very annoyed - If you know any career State Department employees tell them to go to hell. I rank the State Department and the CIA in the category of Worthless SOBs.

Rumsfeld vs. Condi

Rumsfeld Challenges Rice on ‘Tactical Errors’ in Iraq
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1609994/posts

“The only tactical mistake the US Military/DOD made was to allow the State Department to take over after the fall of Baghdad, i.e. Bremer and that State Department lady from Yemen. Until then things went relatively smoothly. We have to remember that the Marshall Plan worked because Marshall was a MILITARY man and not a State Department paper pushing only ideas no action man.”
