Former President Clinton stands to reap around $20 million -- and will sever a politically sensitive partnership tie to Dubai -- by ending his high-profile business relationship with the investment firm of billionaire friend Ron Burkle.
Mr. Clinton is negotiating to end his relationship with Mr. Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. as part of a broader effort to protect the presidential campaign of his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, from potential conflicts of interest. Details of Mr. Clinton's involvement in Yucaipa and his efforts to unwind it come from documents and interviews with people familiar with the matter.
The former president has had links to Yucaipa since early 2002, when Mr. Burkle -- a longtime friend and political contributor -- offered him a role there. Mr. Clinton's association with the firm began at a time when he was looking to earn large amounts of money, partly to pay heavy legal bills accumulated to defend himself and Mrs. Clinton from several investigations during his presidency.
Now, as he negotiates with Yucaipa to withdraw from the relationship, he is a wealthy man, thanks partly to tens of millions of dollars he has earned making speeches around the world.
Mr. Clinton initially signed on with Mr. Burkle as a senior adviser to closely held Yucaipa. As part of that arrangement, Mr. Burkle agreed to give Mr. Clinton a share of the profits from two Yucaipa domestic investment funds if their returns reached a certain threshold. Mr. Clinton's adviser arrangement ended in early 2007, five years after it began. But Mr. Clinton still hasn't settled the issue of his payout.

Dick Morris was talking about this last night on Hannity and Colmes and as near as I could tell, it is a way for Dubai to provide the Clintons, and Mrs. Clinton’s campaign, with $20 million in exchange for {huge question mark, but not hard to guess.} Bought and paid for.
Former President, Senator Clinton, Mr. Burkle, Mr. Clinton....this reporter’s dainty politeness pisses me off.
All these sumbitches belong in jail. IMHO.

This isn’t a dead issue.
The WSJ uses polite titles for all people, good and bad. They constantly referred to Yassir Arafat as “Mr Arafat”. You don’t quite notice it when the formal title is bestowed upon a respected person, such as Mr Reagan. It’s their style.
There is plenty to loathe about Bill Clinton, but don’t make a deal of this one. Ex=presidents and other ex-politicians get all sorts of sweetheart deals for “consulting” or sitting on corporate boards. If Clinton’s ties to Burkle become an issue, then the obvious rebuttal is Cheney/Haliburton (which is moving to Dubai) and Bush/Carlyle. They’ve all both parties, got their fingers in the pie.

Hopefully this story will have legs. Basically Burkle is funneling money to the Clinton;s so they can finance her campaign. An individual can give no more than $2300 to a persons run for office. Just how much work did Bill do for Burkle to earn this kind of money. These Clinton;s make me sick.Their flaunting of the law is unbelievable. I cannot take another 8 years of these crooks in the White House.
If I was getting 20 Mil and already had a bunch of other Mils, I sure as hell wouldn’t be on a campaign circuit for a shrill, harridan hag like the beast Herself.
As a friend used to say, with that much loot (good word for the Clintoons) I’d be busting my ass under a tree in the South of France drinking champagne and entertaining les babes de France!

Congressmen and Senators with secret overseas bank account rake in millions. Electronic deposits are easy to trace but the system is controlled by corrupt politicos. The 'justice system' is broken. Organized crime controls the courts.

Wild Oats Markets was bought by Whole Foods, IIRC. There was some speculation that the sale would not go through due to antitrust law, but, it eventually was approved. I remember reading about it as I buy organic a lot, lol.
