BATON ROUGE, La. - Baton Rouge police say a young woman killed two female students in a classroom at a college, then killed herself.

Sergeant Don Kelly says police don't know the women's names or ages, or whether the killer was also a student at Louisiana Technical College.

He says the first two women killed apparently were in their seats in the second-floor classroom.

The incident occurred Friday shortly after 8:30 a.m. Kelly says Baton Rouge police got many cellphone calls saying people had been shot.

Bingo! I have a very good friend in California law enforcement who says they deal with this all the time, although usually the weapons of choice USUALLY involve not only murder but mutilation.

Exactly. This sort of thing has been going on forever, but in the old days it seldom made the news outside of the city and state papers where it occurred. With the 24/7 news cycle, everybody hears about everything that happens everywhere (except when there is success in Iraq).

I've been pinging for things that happen at universities for quite a while now - it seems appropriate since public money is used there too.

Oh, I understand that you’re pinging because it’s a “public education” institution ... but it’s a college, not a “public school” of the sort that FR homeschoolers typically excoriate. Seems to me a different matter entirely.
