“Waiting for all the RP bashers to come.....”
The neo-cons and sunshine conservatives can’t seem to handle an actual conservative being in the race. I also disagree with Rep. Paul on the WOT. But I’ll take the 80% of a loaf that he offers versus the 20% that the McCain/Clinton ticket offers.
And the fun begins...
Ron Paul is now the most conservative candidate remaining.
He is isn’t he. lol. I guess 22 April I will have to give some consideration. He is pretty loopy but goodness what is the alternative.
So who do you suggest? If you say McCain, I’ll just laugh.
“Now everyone on here who called Ron Paul a kook suddenly love him...”
I doubt that. But given that we’re facing a McCain/Clinton ticket thisNovember, folks who scoffed at him initially are now taking a second look. I personally expect that he will run on a third party ticket, and if he does so I will support him. He isn’t a “perfect” candidate, and I think he is wrong on lot with regard to the WOT, but he is a far better candidate than the alternative.
Welcome to Bizarro world! I’ve been there for a few weeks myself.
“Still with the Ron Paul thing. FLASH!!! He lost!!But hes still taking donations, so send in another check.”
Here’s another news flash. The reason he’s still taking donations is because he’s likely going to run on a third party ticket. It does him no harm and a lot of good to stay on the GOP ticket as long as possible.
The neo-cons and sunshine conservatives cant seem to handle an actual conservative being in the race. I also disagree with Rep. Paul on the WOT. But Ill take the 80% of a loaf that he offers versus the 20% that the McCain/Clinton ticket offers.
His supporters claim he is strong on Nat Security and taxes...but he has a history of being weak on those, too
I just hope its not 9 months of “but McCain is better than Hillary/Obama”. Thats why we have McCain in the first place
I want to love him. I really do. He is so right on so many issues. But he is so wrong on the WOT I can’t support him.
McCain is wrong on so many issues I will never vote for him.
My only hope, and it is a small one, is that the WOT will be over by November and I can then vote for Paul. Seems unlikely though.
Paul makes sense on this.
“Good analogy...though I think McCain offers less than 20% of the loaf.”
I’m being generous.
“I just hope its not 9 months of but McCain is better than Hillary/Obama. Thats why we have McCain in the first place.”
You’ve just summed up the election strategy for the GOP for 2008: vote for us, we’re slightly less awful than the alternative.
So who do you suggest? If you say McCain, Ill just laugh.
RP is spot on, this time. But his position on Iraq and national security is a deal breaker.
LOL, exactly...
Perfect description ....... great tagline material!
I also think that if Huckabee stays in the race (I'm not sure why he would), it's possible that Paul could pull enough support from the former Romney people to have enough delegates at the convention where he *might* have some influence. It's a long shot, but it's possible. Romney dropping out helps Paul a lot.
The guy has zero chance of winning yet he is still taking gullible supporters’ money. Sounds like he would be real good at handling the economy. Just because we are down to three rotten choices, it’s not time to start touting the looniest one.
Paul is:
- Dangerous on terrorism.
- Wrong on Iraq.
- Doesn’t think Iran has a military.
- Wrong on drug control.
- Soft on criminals.
- Doesn’t want a border fence and hopes the problem will go away without federal welfare.
- He is a conspiracy theory nut.
- He has proven his ineptness by allowing racist nesletters to be published under his name for decades.
- He is totally inefective in Congress
And the Paulbots wonder why us normal Freepers think he is a nutbag!
He’s still a loon on the war. But on the rest he’s right on, I’ll give you that.
We hear the same refrain every Presidential election cycle; anyone but Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore and now Billary, while the Federal Leviathan grows exponentially under Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush and Bush.
Is it me, or does the rank and file of the Republican Party realize their own party has baited them into socialism or do they just prefer statist sodomy from Republicans rather than Democrats? Long lives the Ron Paul Revolution...
“It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
-Samuel Adams
