Is that how it is ? My way or the highway ? that is shamefull

Shameful? No, it is called having the courage of your convictions. What, you think we should vote for a man that is not conservative and doesn't hold by the principles we believe in simply because he is registered republican? Of course it is my way or the highway when it comes to freedom. Compromising on freedom means giving it up. I refuse to vote for a man who suberted the first amendment and would love to do away with the rest of the bill of rights.

I'll vote for the person who meets my standards and beliefs, if no candidates are on the ballot who meet that criteria then I will write in a name.

McCain is absolutely solid on the most important issues of our time. He is for defeating the terrorists in Iraq. He is pro life. He is for most traditional values.

Do people always have to agree ? Should we all walk around like zombies ?

Do you think people that went out to vote in November of 1980 agreed with EVERYTHING Ronald Reagan was for, no. Not even every Republican. But he united the country behind the biggest issues in the 20th century. Defeating communism, having a strong defense. peace through strength. And he was right on the most important issues. Thus people of both parties re elected him in a landslide.

I would like to run for office someday. A dream of serving people. Do I have to toe the line on every single issue to get support from my party ?

I agree with you. The reason we are in this predicament is because many have compromised their beliefs for the sake of winning at all costs. "The courage of our convictions" has, sadly, been a tough sell here at this forum. We've now compromised ourselves to the point there is no conservative choice except via third-party.

Evidently "McPolitics" is in violation of somebody's McRights (Fiengold's?), so my designs got rejected. But I tried:

Maybe we could come up with a McCain-ism phrase. McCain-tics? McCainigans? (Obviously, nothing workable so far....) ;)
