McCain asks conservatives for support

Republican John McCain asked disgruntled conservatives to support his presidential bid on Thursday, shortly after Mitt Romney ended his struggling campaign and made McCain the all-but-certain nominee.

McCain assured a conference of conservative activists he was one of them, citing his commitment to win in Iraq, halt Iran's nuclear ambitions and rein in the federal government while drawing sharp contrasts with potential Democratic opponents Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

McCain's speech, which drew boos on the topic of illegal immigration, followed by a few hours Romney's surprise announcement at the conference that he was ending his run to allow Republicans to focus on the November election.

"I feel I have to now stand aside, for our party and for our country," the former Massachusetts governor told the shocked crowd, some of whom gasped and shouted "No, no!" in response.

I know that if Fredheads can change to Mitt, then they can make one more change for McCain.

Or one more change to Hillary, another to Obama, one more to Stalin. As long as he has an 'R' after his name, vote for Satan himself.

Yeah, that ‘turn to me’ request laced with lies only made the knife in the back to lodge itself further in. His lack of sincerity shows. I didn’t hang w/the wrong crowd ever - not starting now.

That was a staged photo.I saw him walk off the plane unassisted when he was released from N Vietnam, but he needed crutches to meet the President?

Of course , I like Mitt as VP. I am not sure Rudy would get the Conservative support McCain needs. Huckabee is not a good second choice, he doesn’t have enough depth.

John McCain asked disgruntled conservatives

Oh, I see. Gave little support to conservative issues and usually against them for the last 4 years, and now he is asking for support. Wonder why?

Two more good choices! But I’d put a premium on youth as far as recommending Fred. That’s another 4 years down the road.

You get it, those are the two reasons I will vote for McCain above all.

IMHO we need to make sure that McCain moves firmly to the right.

He can show us this by removing the Liberals from his staff, no not that staff, the one that creates all the BS he has been putting out.

As I noted on another thread, voting for McCain would be a bitter pill to swallow, but on the flipside it will be difficult preparing for the 2012 election cycle picking corn in a reeducation camp.

McCain may deserve our contempt, but not our troops. I would never put our troops with a commander-in-chief named Hillary or Hussein Obama.

Okay McCain people are you listening, if you really want conservative support you better be listening.

It's true! I will proudly pull the lever for the Republican presidential ticket after it's announced that John McCain has assumed room temperature; provided of course that the late, great [sic] John McCain had picked a solid conservative running mate...

I’ll vote a straight Republican ticket in November, but I’ll be sure to vote for the least objectionable third party candidate for President. If Texas is so close that my vote is vital, McCain will be getting blown out in the rest of the country anyway.

Great tagline material. Don't forget to vote for REAL conservatives for Congress and local/state level to counterbalance McCain.

I was going to hit the abuse button, but then I realized you meant well... LOL

I think unconcious would be a good way to hit the booth this fall.

Actually, I plan on writing in and voting for other important matters.
