DNC Now Wants Michigan Caucus
AP via ClickOnDetroit ^ | Feb. 07, 2008 | Staff

LANSING -- A top Michigan Democrat says the Democratic National Committee is pressuring Michigan and Florida to hold Democratic presidential caucuses so the delegates they've lost for holding January primaries can be seated at the national convention.

DNC member Debbie Dingell said it's unclear whether either state would hold caucuses since they've already held primaries, Michigan on January 15 and Florida on January 29.

But she said the DNC is asking the two states to consider such a plan as the likelihood grows that the selection of the party's nominee could come down to the national convention.

DNC spokesman Damien LaVera said the committee is not pressuring either state.

Michigan Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer said the DNC isn't saying anything it hasn't said before to Michigan and Florida.

Keep voting/counting until you get the result you like is their motto.

This is great. What I want to happen is Hillary to get so desperate that they will cross the line and try to negate Obama’s votes at the DNC convention!

Hillary and Bill are manuvering behind the scenes on this. Since they won the non-binding elections, they want delegates based on those votes. I bet they push for that, rather than a new round of caucuses where Obama might do better.

I want a bulk order of popcorn. These Dems. may put on quite a show for us before this is all over.

Every vote counts unless they are primary votes that can be corrupted

It's better for Obama if they have caususes, then no matter what happens he will most likely get more delegates than he would if they just go back on their word and seat the current primary delegates.

As far as the super delegates go, I have just two words:

FBI files.

Florida note to Dean:

The DNC does not set the voting in party primaries here.

The Florida legislature does, and we are overwhelmingly populated with republican legislators who don’t give a damn what you think.

A day late and a dollar short. - Think of another scam.

If they have caucuses and Obama wins them, then the fun really begins as Hillary’s primary win delegates will show up to the convention as well and there will be a fight over which delegates to see.

Jonathan Alter of Newsweak wrote today that Alexis Herman (Clinton’s Labor Secretary) is the chair of the committee that will decide which delegates to accept at the convention...

wow, let’s get more popcorn. That would be fun to see which delegates get seated. And when Billary work to shut out Obama’s delegates, some people will be peeved about the manuvering.

Clintons change the rules as they go along to screw Obama. Wasn’t it the Clinton people who insisted on disallowing these states in the first place?

Ha, Debbie Dingbat was a major impetus for getting the primary date changed in the first place.

The MI state dems step in it every time if it’s possible for them to do so.

Hillary & Obama are waging the most expensive primary battle in history and the DNC wants to add a couple more tour dates to further deplete their resources. I love it!

1) They (the Clintons) set the rules to control the primaries.
2) They punished states that didn’t obey the rules.
3) Only now are they suddenly concerned about the voters in MI & FL and are trying to eliminate the punishment by changing the rules.

The rules are unwieldy and they can’t even follow their own rules. If they cannot be trusted to run a primary system, how can they be trusted to run nation?
