Obama may skip Ohio debate

DAYTON, Ohio—Barack Obama is considering skipping the presidential primary debate scheduled for later this month in Ohio to instead spend time talking to voters, a newspaper reported last night.

The U.S. senator from Illinois faces U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York in the March 4 primaries in Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont.

CNN announced last week that it would partner with the Democratic party in Ohio to bring a debate to the perennial battleground state on Feb. 27.

"Sen. Obama has debated Sen. Clinton 18 times during this campaign — including four times in the last month," Ben LaBolt, an Obama spokesman, told the Dayton Daily News for a story posted on its Web site. "There will be more debates before this race is over. Right now, Sen. Obama will focus his time in Ohio on meeting with and listening to the concerns of voters rather than talking again to Sen. Clinton."

The campaign left open the possibility that Obama could reconsider.

Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said yesterday that the Clinton campaign would seek four debates with Obama between now and March 4.

CNN also is working with the Republican party in Ohio for a Feb. 28 debate. The locations of the debates and other details have not been released.

Please. There have been MORE than enough debates already. Enough is enough.

Not a good debater? He cleaned the corrupt clinton’s clock in all the debates I saw.

She is just trying to get some free air time since he has taken her on money. ROFLOL. I never would have thunk that somebody could out fundraise them.

He is a rock star, but he will prove to be a one hit wonder both idolized and ignored forever. He is simply way too liberal for anyone but a Prius owner to love. That will become evident. HRC will win the nomination (Dean will facilitate the inevitable Hillarian onslaught), and blacks will stay home. The swing vote is white men.
Yippee! It’s gonna be a battle between the men and the women. Super Bowl 8 trillion. The more things change....
Lileks had a great line today: What do you get when you mix Hillary with Obama? Just a white man.
The scourge.

I live here, and I think there’s a large anti-Hillary vote....but not on the Dem side, of course.

If Obama wins the dem nomination, I will predict that he loses Ohio.

“If Obama wins the dem nomination, I will predict that he loses Ohio.”

I was speaking with a prep school classmate and still dear friend who is a major league Dem big shot in Ohio. He is convinced Hillery would lose Ohio in a general but thinks Obama may have a chance. Interestingly, he thinks McCain is the Rs’ best bet to take Ohio after, of all people, Guilliani! Go figure.

If Obama wins the nomination, I predict he becomes president, takes all our money and our guns, decimates the military, invites terrorists to the White House for “peace” talks, and then gives us all the finger on national TV. I’m serious.

It’s against the rules for Freepers to be friends with Dem big shots. :>)

I think McCain will win Ohio no matter who he runs against. He is exactly the type of Republican that Ohioans love to vote for....

Ohio is “moderate” defense-minded country. Neither Hill nor Obama are moderate....and the Good Lord knows they are anti-Defense Department.
