"ROMNEY: -- and finding and executing Osama Bin Laden; and I agree with him on eliminating Al-Qaeda and terror worldwide. Now, if I fight on in my campaign all the way to convention -- I want you to know, I gave this a lot of thought -- I forestall the launch of a national campaign. And, frankly, I'd be making it easier for Senator Clinton or Obama to win. Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."
Very important point. I may not like voting McCain for President, but I sure as hell not going to make my vote help Hillary or Obama become President while we are IN A WAR!
imho

So now what's going to happen is all of us are going to say, "Okay, who's the conservative alternative? Are you going to go to Huckabee now, Rush?" There is no conservative alternative in the race. It's just that simple.Yup.
To: GOP_Lady
We sure did. Duncan Hunter.

Same here. I would have voted for Hunter if he hadn’t dropped out before the Florida primary, but Romney is a decent man—I don’t care what the Romney haters on FR say.

Romney should have been as aggressive before today, now we are screwed.

I am proud to have voted for Mitt Romney. As am I, though resentful that he left us with a lying liberal loser like McCain in the lead.

“Weve passed up the most qualified person running for President in this campaign.”
I’m still shocked that those who claimed the economy as their most important priority passed over Mitt Romney for a guy like McCain.
That said, Romney has been party guy, has stood up for conservative values, and when the cards were stacked against him, he did the honorable thing and folded for the good of the war. I’m not going to say for the good of the party because I simply don’t believe the events that have transpired are for the best. Going into this election, the one Republican who I swore I’d never vote for was McCain. It’s disheartening how things worked out...
To: Constitutionalist Conservative
I would vote for an FDR if that was the choice against the cut and runners. Just win the war.

I think this move by Romney is brilliant! He is a very smart man and could see that continuing his campaign would become a negative for him and for the party in general. At some point the party needs to pull together and rally around our candidate even if he is not our first choice. Romney is a leader and has clearly stated through his actions that the time to come together is now and I think he is right.
