Mexican president foresees friendlier U.S. ("anti-immigrant candidates...put in their place")
Los Angeles Times ^ | February 7, 2008 | Hector Tobar

MEXICO CITY -- President Felipe Calderon said Wednesday that a shifting political climate in the U.S. could improve the chances that a new administration in Washington will help bring a comprehensive reform law that would legalize the status of Mexican immigrants.

In a wide-ranging conversation with The Times, Calderon, scheduled to visit California next week, also addressed the decline of the government-owned oil fields and the war against drug traffickers that has claimed thousands of lives.

"My hope is that whoever the next president is, and whoever is in the new [U.S.] Congress, will have a broader and more comprehensive view" of the immigration problem, Calderon said. Speaking at the presidential residence Los Pinos on the morning after the Super Tuesday presidential primaries in the U.S., Calderon said he took heart from the results, though he did not mention specific candidates.

"It seems to me that the most radical and anti-immigrant candidates have been left behind and have been put in their place by their own electorate," Calderon said.

He arrives in Sacramento on Feb. 13 on the final leg of a five-day U.S. trip that will also take him to Chicago, Boston and New York to visit local officials and representatives of Mexican immigrant communities.

In Sacramento, he is scheduled to meet with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Latino legislators. In Los Angeles the following day, he is to meet Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and migrant groups' representatives assembled by the nine Mexican consulates in California.

He will tell fellow Mexican citizens "that we are actively working to defend their human rights," Calderon said. "No matter their immigration status, they are human beings with dignity and rights that should be respected. We are working, with the full effort of the government, to bring a halt to the campaigns that harass migrants."

It’s over. No matter how these phony warriors on terror posture, this country is finished. We’ve been invaded. We are being colonized and every candidate who may be nominated supports and abets this invasion and colonization.

Prohibit electronic money transfers South of the Border and tax heavily any other money transfers and see how much he still likes us.

It’s not going to happen, but it was a nice thought.

The Mexican government, he said, would continue to “energetically protest unilateral actions” of the U.S. Congress on the immigration front that he said “exacerbate the persecution of undocumented Mexicans in the U.S.” He boasted that Mexican consulates in the United States have been fortified to protect the rights of millions of Mexicans living there illegally.

“Wherever there is a Mexican,” he said, “that is Mexico.”

El Jefe Calderon can kindly go take a very long walk off a very short pier. If I wrote what I really want to say, I’d be banned for a month! He must be jumping for joy that his buddy McAztlan is leading in the GOP. Regardless of who wins in November, he and his invaders will be happier than ants at a picinic.

“Wherever there is a Mexican,” he said, “that is Mexico.”

Sounds an awful lot like Hitler's justification for annexing the Sudetenland. But just the Sudetenland...we have no territorial ambitions past that.

Wow. Great endorsement for McCain. Now if he can only get one like that from Bin Ladin, or the Iranian guy he’d have it in the bag.

They just can’t keep their mouth shut, can they?

In a wide-ranging interview, Felipe Calderon sees a better chance for illegal alien immigrants to gain legal status in the next administration.

President Felipe Calderon said Wednesday that... a new administration in Washington will help bring a "comprehensive reform law" that would legalize the status of Mexican illegal alien immigrants.

"It seems to me that the most radical and anti-illegal alien immigrant candidates have been left behind and have been put in their place by their own electorate," Calderon said.

he is to meet Los Angeles, California Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and migrant illegal alien groups' representatives assembled by the nine Mexican consulates in California.

"No matter their illegal alien immigration status, they are human beings with dignity and rights that should be respected. We are working, with the full effort of the government, to bring a halt to the campaigns that harass illegal alien migrants."

Calderon said one goal of his trip, which will include a talk Monday at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, was to build public support for an illegal alien immigration reform law that would allow millions of illegal alien Mexicans to work in the U.S.

***********

Work in the U.S.? The mouthy little azzhole needs to forget making stupid remarks about Americans and start thinking about keeping his own little third-world nation from starving to death.

Despite criticisms from farmers that the North American Free Trade Agreement is ruining Mexican agriculture and spurring migration to the U.S., Calderon said he remained a firm believer in the power of free markets to improve the lot of Mexico's rural poor.

So, Felipe Calderon is also a liar. Mexican rural farmers are protesting in mass in Mexico City, big time. This isn’t just a few p.o`ed farmers the city was packed. The video is in Spanish, but it does not take much understanding to see exactly what our wonderful NAFTA has done. In addition, it is the policies of the Mexican government that have caused the US to have to support 35 million mexicans and Felipe Calderon has every intention of keeping that ball rolling. Short of Iran, Felipe Calderon is the biggest enemy of the United States right now and John McCain is his amnesty butt-boy.

All this from the guy that “no doubt” he won the race in Mexico City, July 2, 2006 by the heady margin of 0.58% and refused a recount. The guy that when installed as President of mexico he was damn near beaten by mobs of his "constituents" that did not want him anywhere near the Presidency (sound familiar?)

Just an hour before the ceremony, deputies seized the speaker's platform and blocked the doors of the chamber.

Members of the left-wing Democratic Revolution Party say Mr Calderon, a conservative, won July's poll by fraud.

The row followed an unusual midnight ceremony in which the outgoing president handed power to Mr Calderon.

Yep, that is a "row" alright. Mr Calderon, "man of the people". What a joke.

And just check out the lineup that attended despite the security being nearly OUT of control...

The Honorable Antonio O. Garza, United States Ambassador to Mexico
The Honorable Alberto R. Gonzales, Attorney General of the United States
The Honorable Carlos M. Gutierrez, Secretary of Commerce

In addition there were the following in attendance at the semi-secret midnight inauguration.

"Among foreign guests invited to the inauguration ceremony will be former U.S. President George W. Bush Senior,
Canadian Prime Minister Stephan Harper,
Crown Prince Felipe of Spain,
Argentine President Nestor Kichner,
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez,
and presidents from a number of Central American countries.

Quite a little lineup to see to it Felipe Calderon is installed as President of mexico. Since when does a mexican president attend a private inauguration of an American President? And with NO security threat? But somehow it was deemed necessary for an American President to attend a semi-secret midnight inauguration oath for a Mexican president! One that would make Secret Service Agents have nightmares. One that was the biggest joke so far this century!

And this is the very same Felipe Calderon that now declare American conservative United States Presidential candidates have been "have been put in their place."

Wrong move Felipe. VERY bad move.

The little tyrants just can not keep their mouths shut can they? And that is always the giveaway to their true nature and intention. Mouthing off.

Kind of like John McCain telling "everybody to shut up."

"It seems to me that the most radical and anti-immigrant candidates have been left behind and have been put in their place by their own electorate,"

No, Felipe, the party bosses and the media in the smoke filled back rooms in D.C. made sure that the men who stood their ground on enforcing our immigration laws melted away, not the electorate.
