Sorry. Duncan Hunter has a record of conservatism and accomplishment 2nd to none. Yet many freepers immediately started looking to electable RINOs. We get what we deserve.

Yes we were for Hunter and Thompson because they were conservitive. But they got no traction because they got no money. Corporate America wants an endless supply of cheap labor and wants us Americans to pay for their health care responsibilities. Now we are stuck with two liberals in the fall. YUK!

I agree Hunter had a good conservative record. However, Duncan Hunter's personality did not have the appeal to win particularly in the general nor did he have the ability to raise money.

Conservatives have to get much more realistic and much wiser about the way they choose candidates. It has been years since we've had such a smart, talented, articulate, capable candidate, as the one we saw in Mitt Romney. When we realized Thompson's campaign was going nowhere, Conservatives should have rallied behind Romney. But too many were too egotistical and stubborn to see it. Indeed, some conservatives get what they deserve.

It will be very difficult to vote for McCain. I will not be working for him as I do not believe he can defeat either Hillary or Obama, but particularly Obama.

I understand what you are saying here, but bona fides are not just your record of public service, but also you’re ability to generate support and obtain national recognition to the level needed to earn the nomination. Not one of the true conservative candidates possessed these attributes this year. This is why we are faced with such horrific choices in November. And, please, don’t start with the “it’s the voters fault” scenereo. It is up to the candidates themselves to bring everything they have to the party, not the voters.

I was a solid Guiliani supporter when I started reading this site and came to know about Hunter. I would have voted for him. I wouldn’t have known about him had it not been for this site. Thomspon was my next choice, then he dropped out. I voted for Romney two days ago and now he’s out (I believed he was the best of those left). I don’t think I can vote for McCain in the General. Someone here said that we all have a limit and he’s mine right now. I respect his military service but I don’t trust him at all.
