Defeat of the initiative means that Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles, Senate President Pro Tem Don Pe
rata, D-Oakland,... will be barred from running for re-election this year.
Sorry, I just love reading that!

Senator Tom McClintock will have to retire this year,
because Prop 93 did not pass. Our district may also lose
Senator Ashburn and Assemblymember Bill Maze.
I think you might agree, this is horrible news.

No politician - no matter how loved or powerful, should have a lifetime lock on Public Office...
In Politics, as in the Military and tightly managed Corporations - move up, or move out — don’t consider your position as a lifetime slot.
Politics in America has become a “family business” with rights of survivorship.
It hasn’t served us well.....In fact it has saddled us with a large number of x$$holes.
Term Limits has become a necessity...
The lack of it has permitted the likes of Senators Byrd, Biden, Kennedy and Inouye to remain in office though the pork barrel distribution of OUR money to their electorate...
Can ANYONE name a sufficient number of ACCOMPLISHMENTS of those miscreants to justify their OVER 35 years in the Senate?????

“Can anyone justify term limits”?
Well sure that’s another viewpoint, the 35 years
of which you speak for ‘Aoles’, seems to be the voters reelected them. Will that still be an option in California?

I didn’t ask for a justification for Term Limits.....
I simply asked if anyone could provide a RECORD to justify the 35 year “term” in the Senate..
EVERY State demonstrates the ignorance to reelect a’holes, so long as that a’hole promises to take from my pocket and put in their pocket.......
The only protection the Republic has is TERM LIMITS.....
I doubt our Founding Fathers ever dreamed that such feckless imbeciles would serve in the Senate - nor for as long as too many have served....

Some good people being termed out (Tom McClintock comes to mind), but lots of leftist scum bags, too. Unfortunately, with the rigged districts, I suspect most of them will be replaced by other scumbags.

Californians love their term limits. They would agree to tighten it more but rejected the sweetener Fabian Nunez and Don Perata inserted to lengthen their own stay in office. People think politicians spend too much time take care of their own needs and too little of it looking after the state's welfare. That was the message sent with the defeat of Proposition 93 on Tuesday.
