UN Blasts White House on Waterboarding

GENEVA, Switzerland (AP) -- The United Nations' torture investigator criticized the White House Wednesday for defending the use of waterboarding and urged the U.S. to give up its defense of "unjustifiable" interrogation methods.

The comments from Manfred Nowak, the U.N.'s special rapporteur on torture, came a day after the Bush administration acknowledged publicly for the first time that waterboarding was used by U.S. government questioners on three terror suspects.

Testifying before Congress, CIA Director Michael Hayden said the suspects were waterboarded in 2002 and 2003.

"This is absolutely unacceptable under international human rights law," Nowak said. "Time has come that the government will actually acknowledge that they did something wrong and not continue trying to justify what is unjustifiable."

The White House on Wednesday defended the use of waterboarding, saying it is legal — not torture as critics argue — and has saved American lives.

And remember, we would be catching hell the same if it was not waterboarding but some mucho milder form of interragation. That’s the way the decks stacked.

There are people that have no idea how our form of Government works, or that there are three co equal branches.
In their minds we have a Dictator in the White House torturing at will.

Probably not since it wasn’t its NYC building.

But that’s ok. As long as it’s someone else’s ox.

Did the U.N. ever condemn the tactics of hijacking airliners and using them to crash into buildings?

Of course not! I think they went out of their way to blame America for that one.

If the UN hates it, it must be working.

Just wait till 2009, UN. We’ll be giving up in the War of Terror, period.

I would rather be waterboarded than have to listen to or look at Hillary Clinton. That cackle would get any terrorist to spill the beans.

Waterboarding is not torture, no one is injured, no one is hurt, it just induces fear of drowning. I firmly believe that if someone offered $1000. to anyone agreeing to undergo the procedure the line would be around the block. Besides, if waterboarding is torture, what is the word for cutting a living person’s head off with a knife?

Has the White House ever blasted the UN for the child rape, drug dealing, cooking refugees on a spit, gun trading or imbezzling of Oil for Food money?

The UN needs to STFU.

There is nothing in this information that causes me to care one bit what the UN thinks on this subject. This is by no stretch of the imagination any thing like torture. Take a trip to Darfur UN and let the US tend to ‘business’.

Dear kind sirs of the United Nations,
In response to your concerns about waterboarding we would like to offer you the opportunity to observe the activity so that you can establish a better informed opinion. There is nothing like first hand information when discussing such important affairs.

If you would kindly report to Quantico VA at the time and date noted below we will be glad to discuss the matter in detail in an attempt to allay your fears.

Uniform is business casual (Swim trunks optional).

Regards,
BnG

What is really terrible is that it is a near certainty now that the next POTUS will agree with this bozo and will join in the UN circus condemning the most elementary defense of our citizens from the scourge of mass jihad terrorism.

The idea that anyone thinks it is some great evil to ‘waterboard’ a terrorist scumbag like Khalid S##t Mohammed in order to find out what he knows about future plots and fellow jihad terrorists is just laughable to me. Unfortunately Shrillary, Obama Hussein, and John McCain are all in agreement that we should kiss up to UN scumbags who preach “human rights” while failing abysmally to actually do anything about defending real human rights around the world.

Yes, of course, waterboarding is so much more cruel than roasting slowly over a flame, like UN soldiers did to CHILDREN in Rwanda.
