Given how long the Bush administration dragged their feet (and still are dragging their feet) on a secure border), the terrorists have another 20 or 30 years of open borders.

True... a democratic government is most vulnerable following a transition of power. The closer to inauguration the greater the confusion... the greater the impact. Would almost be willing to bet the farm that the other shoe will drop during the summer of 2009.

Hope you’re right.
But if the puppet masters have decided to trash the USA, as every indication is that they have . . . I figure their first volley will be a large scale diverse Jihadi attack.

Wont happen until sometime after January 20, 2009. They would likely want to hit around the holidays at the end of the year. That way they get to hit Bush, but not give him enough time to formulate a good counter attack.
They can then do the middle east trick of offering to negotiate after a strike and before the counterstrike. A lot of Dems would say that they were just trying to hit back at the President who attacked them, and would oppose any serious response.
They would sell the new administration as a "new beginning" in diplomatic relations with the Islamic world through which we can resolve our differences and live together in peace.

You got that right. Iran and Syria are holding them off until the new president takes office, and they are hoping it will be a democrat. Bush proved what he would do if they attacked the US and they believe he will go after them if they attack now.
