Senior al Qaeda leaders have diverted operatives from Iraq across the globe and are increasing preparations to strike the United States, senior intelligence officials told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence yesterday. They said the terrorists had plans to attack the White House as recently as 2006.
"Al Qaeda is improving the last key aspect of its ability to attack the U.S. — the identification, training and positioning of operatives for an attack in the homeland," said Michael McConnell, director of national intelligence, which oversees all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies.
"While increased security measures at home and abroad have caused al Qaeda to view the West, especially the U.S., as a harder target, we have seen an influx of new Western recruits into the tribal areas since mid-2006, " Mr. McConnell said.
Mr. McConnell revealed that al Qaeda had plans to specifically target the White House.

The third attack is something they’ve been planning for years, but they’ve been on the run so much difficult to do.
I am certain it involves at minimum - NY, an atomic device, and a 2010-2013 window. I think they will try in 2010, smack in the middle of HRC’s term.

If there is to be an attack this Fall, in the midst of a presidential campaign, I will not want to witness the reaction by certain candidates. I would expect your latter option.
Not only will attacks increase on the U. S. all over the world, but the U. S. will be held in lower esteem in the Arab world - it will be viewed as feminine, weak, and degenerate.
It will be seen in their interpretation of their religion as a sign from the Almighty that the Almighty has chosen them, the Islamists, to prevail.
Would that Limbaugh and Hannity et al talk about this instead of their present Kamikaze themes.

Yes, after another attack the first thing that President Hillary will do is condemn Bush for failing to secure the nation. Then she will apologize to AQ for forcing them to attack us because of how poorly we have treated Islamic people in the world and pushed everyone around.
This way the other nations will like us again and all we be well.
They will only attack the WH if Obama is President and Hillary is the VP on a trip abroad.
They will probably attack when Clinton and Obama are at one of their many planned Peace Summits roasting marshmallows, and singing Cumbaya with the ‘can’t we all just get along’ terrorists.
You got that right. Iran and Syria are holding them off until the new president takes office, and they are hoping it will be a democrat. Bush proved what he would do if they attacked the US and they believe he will go after them if they attack now.
