Pelosi: ‘The War in Iraq Has Seriously Undermined Our Nation’s Military Strength and Readiness’

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on Congressional testimony by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, on the proposed fiscal year 2009 defense budget:

“Today’s testimony by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff confirms our warning that the war in Iraq has seriously undermined our nation’s military strength and readiness, and therefore our national security.

“Admiral Michael Mullen’s testimony before Congress today that our troops are ‘significantly stressed’ by operations in Iraq and Afghanistan underscores the national security threat posed by the President’s failed Iraq policy. Admiral Mullen’s warning that ‘the pace of ongoing operations has prevented our forces from fully training for the full spectrum of operations and impacts our ability to be ready to counter future threats’ should make clear that the issue of military readiness is not an abstract concept, but a timely and critical threat to the safety of the American people.

“We need a New Direction in our Iraq policy, one that will bring our troops home honorably, safely, and soon.”

She could do something about this by pushing for a larger military (if she actually cared). Not holding my breath though.

What in the hell would an anti-war kook know about military strength?

Expected comments from an idiot in congress. If anything, our nations military strength and readiness are just the opposite of what she drivels down here chin. Piglosi is a fool and a dolt to make such statements, but what are we to expect?

“We need a New Direction in our Iraq policy, one that will bring our troops home honorably, safely, and soon.”

Uh...victory would be the only "honorable" way to come home, Nancy...

This isn't a schoolyard game, where libs like you have banned scorekeeping...

The enemy plays to win...which means killing us.

Pelosi now has rejuvenated powers, as McClinObama have the lead. This will only improve her status.

Hold on for the long ride.

According to Sr. Mst Sgt. General Pelosi, “Using our military undermines our nation’s military strength and readiness, unless you are sending them all over the world to hand out lunches and to protect muslim drug dealers or to get the press off the impeachment of our guy!”

Must be REALLY high quality crack available in DC! Our military was technologically the best on the planet, now they are leaner, meaner, and battle tested. She must be using that fluffy sweet liberal yardstick where all the troops understand/empathize with their foe, are more interested in nation building/relief ops, and would rather rape refugee children than kill the enemy. That’s it, the banshee is using the un-forces for her comparison.

Stooooopid liberals!

Or, you can look at it from the other way, we now have the largest force of experienced battle ready troops in the world, bar none! Nothing, and I mean nothing, gets troops ready for battle like fighting battles.

Right you are, SD. Ms. Peolsi doesn’t give a rip about our military.

This story reminds me of the old saw about the kid who murdered his parents - and then threw himself on the mercy of the court because he was an orphan.

How many attacks since?

That would be none, but why should that matter to her?

Pelosi: ‘The War in Iraq Has Seriously Undermined Our Nation’s Military Strength and Readiness’

Readiness for things such as...say, a whole plethora of top-notch terrorists...I mean The A Team, Nancy...the very group that attacked our nation in 2001...gathering in one country to wreak havoc upon Americans and innocent civilians?

Strength and readiness for something like crippling and defeating these same terrorists who are a very serious threat to our national security?

We need to have strength and readiness for something like that, right Nancy?

Not that I can ever imagine such a scenario...

She cherry picked one statement by Admiral Mullen out of his testimony and the rest of her inane press release sounds like it was written by John (Cut and Run) Murtha.

Readiness for what? If your policy is surrender you are always ready. If the democrats don’t want to stand up to the Islamists, who are we getting ready to defend against?

Pelosi is a Traitor by the Constitution who went to Syria and met with their goon leader who is directly responsible for deaths and injuries to American forces in Iraq.

The Pelosi Flux Triangulator must be seriously damaged. This is like the 20th different spin balloon they’ve floated to try and gain some traction on the Iraq issue.
