Reports are rolling into talk radio stations in San Diego about massive Republican vote suppression.
Thousands of Republican voters in San Diego and as far north as Los Angeles showed up to vote on Tuesday only to be told that they were registered "Non-Partisan". This meant that they could not vote for the Republican Primary candidates.
Non-Partisan (independent) voters in California can vote for Candidates in any other party, including the Democrat party, but are prohibited from voting in the Republican Primary unless they are registered as a Republican.
Rick Roberts [http://www.760kfmb.com] is currently reporting on this and has had hundreds of calls and thousands of e-mails from people who showed up to vote only to be told they were not registered as Republcans. Reports began rolling into the Roger Hedgecock show yesterday.
Several people have called in saying they witnessed this happening at polling place they worked at as volunteers. One gentleman stated that he believed at least 20% of the Republicans that showed up to vote were denied a Republican primary form because the roster showed them as "Non-Partisan".
The Republican Party in California has begun investigating this issue, but the mainstream media continues to report that Californias election "went smoothly".
It seems clear that someone or some group managed to tamper with the voter registration rolls. Either by direct access to the Registrars computer system, or by gaining access to voter information and then sending in registration cards in their name.
Southern California was projected to go heavily in favor in Mitt Romny.
But they stated that they HAD registered Republican and were coming up as “Declined to State,” which precludes them from voting Republican. They weren’t trying to change parties at the polls.
Really weird. My BF, who lives in San Bernardino county and not real astute politically, informed me yesterday that he had not gotten any voter info (sample ballots, etc.) nor Republican party info in the mail since he last voted 2 years ago.
I wonder if it happened there too?
I wrote the article. I suppose I did not explain the problem as clearly as I could have (I was in a hurry to get this out there). My mistake. So, for the umpteenth time let me restate what has happened.
Voter rolls were altered. People who have alwasys been Registerd Republicans, who never changed parties or had any contact with the registrars office since registering as Republicans, went to the polls to find that somehow they had been changed to "Non-Partisan".
Do you get it now? Can I make it any more clear?
Yep, and that's the only way you could impact the outcome. But, looking at how the vote is going by district at the moment, it appears to be tracking the overall orientation of the district. Romney's winning in parts of Orange, most of San Diego, and in the Fresno-Tulare area, all exactly the areas where you'd expect the conservative vote. So if they disqualified precincts, it didn't work.
O.C. And San Diego were both within 2%. If the alleged 20% figure is correct, it could easily have swayed the CA results a lot.
What Republican controlled environment? Nothing in California is controlled by Republicans except a few city councils. The state bureaucracy is controlled by Democrats, as are most of the local registrars offices, not to mention at the state level.
Oh honey I got it the first time. I only included you in my post because I was answering one addressed to you.
It is rampant.
From the machines which can be manipulated to unscrupulous people that will stuff ballot boxes and discard conservative voter ballots to the unrestrained allowing of illegal criminal invaders to vote.
Via motor voter and needing no proof of who you are when you vote and a myriad of other tactics.
If Hilliary gets the nomination I believe this issue will put her over the top to win the Presidency.
Bill tried it for Gore, sending out 10’s of thousands of “legal” voting cards to non-citizens that they could just take to the polls and vote.
If Obama get the Dem nod, then Hilliary will use this against him so she can run again in 4 years.
If a Democrat gets in, she may have to wait 8 years.
Then why Haven't Democrats reported a similar problem? I know they would still be allowed to vote since their primary was open and it would not have affected them, but poll workers have stated that no one claiming to be Democrat turned up on the polls as a "Non-partisan".
From my understanding in NJ you had to register at least 15 days before the primary, if you were changing parties.
You are right about rural NY.
My sis moved to our snow belt area from California last year, and went with me for the first time, to our local volunteer fire department to vote.
But, she had lost her registration card, and couldn’t remember whether she had registered as a Republican or an Independent (the last would have prevented her from voting in the primary).
Our poll workers took the time to check their books, found that she had registered as a Republican, and patiently showed her how to vote on our “old fashioned lever and curtain machine.
She was delighted at how easy it was, compared to where she had lived in California!
She was also very impressed with the courtesy and patience of the local poll workers, and said it made her proud to be an American, and to feel that her right to vote really mattered.
Independents in california like here in pa can not vote in primaries . have to be registered dem or republican. San diego votes more then likely would have went to mccain. Big marine base there and mccains son is one of them
You also forgot that more then half of registered republicans in california voted absentee

Sorry. Please accept my apologies. I’m getting a little frustrated here. ;-]
Here are the rules for the California Republican Primary.
Only the 11 at-large delegates would be impacted, not the other 159.
170 of 173 of California’s delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders in today’s California Presidential Primary.
* 159 district delegates are to be allocated to presidential contenders based on the primary results in each of the 53 congressional districts: each congressional district is assigned 3 National Convention delegates and the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes IN THAT DISTRICT will receive all 3 of that district’s National Convention delegates.
11 at-large delegates are to be allocated to the presidential contender receiving the greatest number of votes in the primary statewide.
In addition, 3 party leaders will attend the convention as unpledged delegates.
No, you had to register to vote at least 15 day before the primary. You do not have to declare a party. Most NJ voters are independents, about 60%.
Figured there was a fly in the ointment. Several other videos came up on the same topic but I didn't bother to look at them. Yet anyway.
I enjoyed your story.
Here’s another variant, which happened to a Democrat co-worker. He went to vote, appeared on their rolls as a Dem and was given a ballot. He went to the Dem booth, slid his ballot into the votomatic, voted for his candidate, gave the ballot to the poll worker, got the stub and left. Only later did he notice that the stub said “REPUBLICAN BALLOT.” Partly his fault, of course, and he realizes that. He just wishes he had some idea of who he voted for.
I don’t think we know that to be true, since I’ve seen other media coverage and talked to Democrats who discovered their registration had been changed. But one possible reason for few complaints is that those who thought they were Democrats, but over the last four years forgot they were DTS got to vote, whereas those who thought they were Republicans, but over the last four years forgot they were DTS didn’t get to vote.
Getting your own way tends to produce few gripes than not getting your own way.
