This happened to my daughter and son yesterday. My husband, me, my son and my daughter are all registered Republicans at the same street address. My son and daughter found that their affiliation was "no party" and were denied voting for any candidate - they could only vote for the issues. My daughter asked if she could write in a candidate's name and the poll worker said yes, so she wrote in Romney. Don't know if it counted tho.
I was listening to Roger Hedgecock yesterday, and he was asking for people to email him with their stories about this. He also took a call from a poll worker who said this was happening frequently at her location, but only to Republicans.

Huh huh, at least there is one other republican leaning person in your precinct. I spied the voter roll for my precinct as they were searching for my name and everyone (all of my neighbors) was listed as a Democrat. I have lived many places in my life and I have never seen such a mindlessly monolithic group of voters as I've witnessed in the Bay Area - and I live in an outer suburb.

I am asking how McCain could ID the particluar voters in advance. I disagree with the McCain consp[iracy theory without more explanation.
It makes more sense that the dems would want to drive them towards their party. I don't disagree with that, but let's figure out how they did it.
I'm not really dense, just cautios and in fact, wuite trim.

Thank you for being the only voice of naivety on the thread.

I never asked who your husband was. And I don't care. You tried to intimidate and defend your position by using the "I've read FR since 98" crap when your profile said differently.
There IS no defense to excuse vote fraud or suppression. None.

Your story is the most telling, not only three at one address, but the unwillingness of the poll workers to offer the Dem or AIP ballot, so that your family could have a vote in one of the open party's presidential slate.
I'm writing a letter this week about my experiences and I encourage them to make the problem known publicaly and to the registrar.

Any chance we can get the well respected, highly motivated, voters rights advocate - Jimmy Carter on the investigation?

Yes. Great taglines is a wonderful Freeper tradition. :)

What’s the issue? If they weren’t registered Republicans why should they be allowed to vote?

You keep mistating my position. If you want to make up both sides of the argument, argue with yourself.
After trying to get me ousted, what's the point of further rplies?
To: DJ MacWoW
My vote in NYS didn’t mean much of anything. McCain had it wrapped up, so I voted for who I wanted to. However, even knowing that my vote wouldn’t count for a thing, I would have been livid if I’d gotten there and was told I couldn’t vote because somehow I was “suddenly” an Independent. Maybe more freepers need to volunteer at the polls.

You show up at the polls. You have always voted Republican, but now youre showing Declined to State. Only one of two parties allows you to cross-over - the Dems and the American Independent. Most people dont realize that they can challenge the registration through provisional ballot, so instead opt to take a Dem ballot and vote. Dems can now claim that the independents are in favor of Obama or Hillary (Im thinking Hillary was stupid enough to think this would benefit her). I agree. I also think that whoever did this thought it would be chalked up to "mistakes" on the part of the voters because of the recent change in the Rpublican Primay to "closed" and the fact that many republicans have (claimed anyway) to have switched to "independent", over disatisfaction with the party. To things that would provide good cover for a fraud attempt.
In the end, one or both of these things will be claimed though they are illogical and don't hold up to serious analysis of the facts.

BTW, 20% of the 250,000 GOP votes cast in San Deigo county alone was 50,000 disenfranchised voters. Where does this 20% figure come from? Where has anyone suggested that 50,000 GOP voters in San Deigo have been disenfranchised?
I've heard that 63.7% of all statistics are made up. Is this one of them? Links! Links!!
You guys are beginning to sound like Michael Moore!

I was listening to Roger Hedgecock yesterday, and he was asking for people to email him with their stories about this. He also took a call from a poll worker who said this was happening frequently at her location, but only to Republicans. Rick Roberts on KFMB has been reporting exactly the same thing for four hours this morning. Numerous poll workers calling in to confirm that this was only happening to Republican voters.

Glad to see people so blase about vote fraud. Bodes well for the future of the Republic. Not 'blase', just not convinced that this is anything more than normal inefficiencies found in all systems run by humans.
Hate to see good conservatives going all AlGore on this.

Im just responding to your point that the people elect the candidates.

If they don't then why vote?

Doc, I can only speak for the poll I worked at in Oceanside. But the repub-Non-partsan problem was our most frequent problem, by far. We had about 200 repub voters and 15-20 who said they were repuibs and came in as NP. That’s too high of an error rate.

To: PsyOp
We should only want Republicans who registered as Republicans to vote in the primaries. Letting nonpartisans vote in a Republican primary isn’t going to help conservatives, it will help the moderate Republican candidate.
To: sageb1
I know we do have involved Freepers.
I vote in a very small, rural area in NY state. Everybody knows everyone. New voters get their ID checked. And if you can't remember which district table to go to, the poll workers know where you belong and call you to the correct table. :) This kind of trickery could only happen in a big city.
