Not Staying Home

Published 2/6/2008 12:07:17 AM If you're like me, you're probably sitting around somewhere in the dark, trying your best to avoid all forms of media coverage of the 2008 presidential primary season. Maybe for the first time in years, you eschewed the weekend talk shows, even Fox News. And except for the crossword puzzle or the sports section, you probably refused to even open your Sunday paper, especially if it is a liberal fish-wrap like the AP-infested publication in my hometown.

In any case, we can always cheer ourselves up by enjoying a little Schadenfreude at the expense of our opposition. It seems not all Democrats are exactly thrilled with the media's idea of the inevitability of Mr. & Mrs. Clinton's return to the White House either. Misery loves company.

Bump that! I'll be supporting the conservative congressmen that are running. From now on, I'm using the word 'conservative' vs. Republican. Obviously, they are not synonymous.

I won’t stay home, but neither will vote for either Mccain or a ‘rat. If we keep falling into line for the man with the “R” by his name, we keep getting more of the same. Why not? They’ll know that we’ll fall into line. It’s a self-perpetuating trap.

I won’t stay home, but McCain will not get my vote, and neither will the dem. I’ll do a write in. Hell, maybe I’ll write in vote for my dad. He’s a regular guy who could definitely do a better job than any of these clowns.

i also cannot stay home
i vote in the primary matching who best represents my conservative principles. if he does not make it (which he didnt) i vote for whoever matches me the most in the general election. if it is McCain vs Hill/Bama than he matches me much more than HIll/Bama.
his ACU rating is 82 for lifetime and 65 for 2006
Hill is 9 / 12
Bama is 8 / 8
i would rather have someone i agree with 60 - 80% of the time
than someone i agree with 8 - 12% of the time

If Obama gets nominated, I’ll vote for whomever has the best chance of beating him. That is one guy I can get motivated to vote against. Otherwise, I very well might stay home.

Bravo! Just because I won't vote for McCain, doesn't mean I'm staying home. I'll still be out voting for Congress, and state and local seats, just like the overwhelming majority of fellow Freepers.

Its better off not to feel anything. Those feelings lead us into acceptance of the status quo.

The GOP wants us too Feel bad if we do not march down to the pond like a row of ducklings and pull the lever for the big Quack.

I was lucky enough to be able to vote my principles and cast one for Hunter before he dropped out.

Come Nov. I’ll do the same. I’m not big into write-ins (I prefer people who are actually on the ballot. Maybe I’ll check out the constitution party.

Same here, I know exactly what you mean. I have been freed from the stress of the Presidential race, I can vote for conservatives down ticket, which races are generally much more reasonable--heck, anything's more reasonable than trying to choose between the socialists on the left or the opportunist on the "right". All of them plan to flood this country with illegal immigrant future entitlement voters. It's true, that saying along the lines of "once the people know they can vote themselves money, democracy will be dead".

I won't stay home either. I'll go vote for the most conservatives for all offices, but I'll write in Hunter for Pres. I will not vote for McAmnesty or a dim. The party officials have gone too left for me, and I want them to know it.

McAmnesty can't hold his own against either Clinton or OsamaObama, so he won't win the Presidency anyway. I can't stand the thought of any more years of the Clintons, but Obama scares me to death. McAmnesty would be a disaster, and I would rather a dim get the blame for disasters than anyone with a "R" behind their name.

Well, if McCain were honorable and if he actually was worried about his good friends in the Democratic party getting into the White House, he has only one option: To drop out and endorse a dark horse candidate in order to pull the party together. Otherwise, it’s just his ambition and ego.

It is a stark choice he has - either sacrifice his ambition to ensure the safety and security of the country, or indulge in his ambition and be certain of splitting the GOP. He’s been warned strongly of his inability to carry the GOP in the general election. If he continues to run, he obviously views his ambition above the country’s good.

I totally agree with you. There are going to be those that badmouth those of us who are making the decision that enough is enough.

I just cannot support McCain, he authored the CIR bill and has Juan Hernandez on his staff.

Sorry people, I really can never support McCain.
