I hate to break it to my fellow freepers, but a comprimise candidate is the only chance Republicans have at winning the WH in ‘08. For 6 years Republicans controlled both the White House and Congress and literally screwed the pooch. They were worse than the Democrats in regards to fiscal sanity and growth of government. They did nothing regarding illegal immigration. The Bush administration made some unforgivable errors in its handling of Iraq. Etc etc.

To his credit, McCain has serious cred as a Commander in Chief. Also, let’s hope that he appoints justices whose jurisprudence matches his favorite justice on SCOTUS: Scalia.

Think about it this way: In the areas where he offends conservatives most, he’s no worse than the 2 Dem front-runners. Yet, he’s better than the Dems in other areas, namely defense and opposing socialized medicine.

I grasp that he’s far from a Conservative’s wet dream candidate. Nevertheless, think about the alternative (Hillary or Obama) and then consider embracing pragmatism and voting for McCain.

If McCain is the candidate I will vote for him. He is against earmarks and wasteful government spending. No one, not Bush, not anyone, has seriously tried to cut spending. Raise/lower taxes doesn’t mean anything unless you cut spending — you just defer the payday.

Jeff, I have been working Republican campaigns for over 50 years, and this is the FIRST time, in all those years, that I don’t have a candidate, that I have enough confidence in, to vote for.

McCain is mentally unstable, Huckster is not, in any way shape or form, qualified to be President, and Mr. Romney will probably not be an available choice.

Now, do you, finally, grasp the gravity of the situation?

My last best choice is not voting. Now, for a person who has not only voted, but participated (and invested) heavily in the election process for a looooong time, this is a very bitter pill indeed.

It has become apparent, after the last 2 losing election cycles, that AFTER the loss many well intentioned cheerleaders crawl out of the woodwork. That’s great, glad to have them, but where were they BEFORE the election, you know, making the calls, going door-to-door, doing the research, going to meeting, etc.?

It is hard for me to imagine a paragraph more laden with crap than the one shown above.

McCain has serious “cred as the CinC”? How? A man who spent most of his military “career” as a prisoner, in a foreign country, has “serious” credibility as commander of our military forces-—a man whose mental stability is questionable? Your bar is way lower than mine!

“Let’s hope he appoints judges like Scalia (who, jurisprudentially, is extremely capricious)”. McCain thinks Justice Alito is “to conservative” for his tastes. I don’t want a bench filled with unknown quantities. I want good, constitutionally responsible judges, like Alito.

I think my sister is gonna be real happy when Hillary decrees that her son won’t have to go to Iraq.

I’m not “embracing” any them. I’m just picky, I guess, always have been. I’m not accustomed to my fellow Republicans presenting me with a slate of thoroughly distasteful, unqualified, mental midgets, then telling me I MUST vote for them. Surprise, I don’t have to do anything of the kind.

McCain=Amnesty=Destructioin of this country as we know it. Once it is certain that McCain will be the nominee, expect a tidal wave of illegals who will expect an amnesty from either McCain, Obama, or Hillary.

consider embracing pragmatism and voting for McCain.

1. We know that some conservatives will not vote for McCain and want to send a message to the Republican party.

2. We know that some conservatives will hold their noses and vote for McCain.

Might I suggest that the people who do decide to vote for McCain can show they are hurting by wearing black and blue? Or can show they are conflicted by carrying clothespins in their pockets as they vote?

Sad but so. From this perspective, McCain almost looks like an upgrade. Just pathetic. People are so concerned about what a McCain presidency would be like. We have been living it.

Bears repeating...

“Yet, (McCain) he’s better than the Dems in other areas, namely defense and opposing socialized medicine.”

I agree. A lot of these people you are trying to convince here will end up coming around in the end. They aren’t all stupid. They’re just angry and not thinking straight at present, kind of like spoiled teenagers who don’t get what they want.
