There may or may not be reasons to vote for certain candidates but these stupid NON issue stories are really getting out of hand.

“Mischievous” meaning he was trying to undermine the Democrats. That’s OK with me.

Good grief. The Democrats sued to open the Republican primaries in New York in 2000, so they could vote for McCain.

I voted Democrat once when there was a Republican on the ballot. I disagreed with the Dem on policy but at least he was sane, the Republican on the ticket was just stark raving nuts. No idea how he got on the ballot and I can’t even remember his name.

I often vote democrat in many local races

Not me. I've only ever voted for one RAT in my entire life and that was in a county race. I'll never do it again.

I’ve done this for as long as I’ve been voting, Unless it’s a tight race on the Republican side. If you can, sometimes it’s not a bad idea to vote for the least liberal democrat on the ballot, in the hope that you don’t end up with a complete loonie in office in January.

Unfortunately this in increasingly hard to do these days.

Me too....sometimes the dem is the better choice.
An R by a person’s name is not enough.

Man you are really grasping, with this. I lived in Massachusetts for 20 years, and the first town election I voted in , only had uncontested Democrats on the ballot. Which meant, who was going to have what office was decided in the Democratic Party. By the way, I became a Republican in Massachusetts, and supported Mitt Romney in his hard fought fight to the Capital of Mass.

“So? I have done the same... as have probably many other conservatives and FReepers.”

I think the point is that he didn’t tell the truth.

Romney didn't support Reagan or GHWB.

That means he voted for ... Carter? Mondale? Dukakis? CLINTON?! (Okay, maybe Perot.)

Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney confessed on Monday to casting a vote for a Democrat on a few occasions - but only when there was no Republican on the ballot.

And?

My local state rep Candy Ruff is a dem and is the person that was the driving force behind the kansas concealed carry law. I’ll crawl across broken glass to vote for her.

Yup--I once cast a vote for Jesse Jackson!

Remember the "Seven dwarves"? I honestly thought Jackson the best of the bunch. I remember the JJ of the "Black is Beautiful" speech, wonderful thing--mocked white liberals for thinking that black people are helpless. But, of course, JJ changed his tune.

There were a lot of states, partic in the South, that you had to be a registered Dem if you wanted any say in local elections.

Interesting this story pops up just as McCain pulls a desperation caucus tactic when he was in trouble in W VA.

In other words, the implication of a sleazy trick to conceal a sleazy manuver fact on mccains part.
