Yes, and when asked during the 96 campaign what he was most proud of from his years in the Senate, the ADA is what he cited.

You could hear me groan in the next county.

Couldn't say.....but Dole has always seemed more concerned about making a deal that is barely conservative.

I use to wonder why Reagan had such a hard time getting stuff done in congress......I think there was more to it than just a few Democrats standing in the way. I think it also was because of people like Dole undermine him for personal interests. Bob was sucking off the Washington trough for a long time and those people tend to make decisions bases on themselves since these Presidents are just passing through.

One thing I'll give Dole.......is that there were on occasion certain lines he would not cross.

Can't say that about McStain.
