It won’t work. Remember when Perot did it? He lost the faith of half of his supporters, and ended up handing the White House to Clinton.

Fred decided to back out, and he will stick to that decision. I love Fred Thompson, and I was totally bummed when he dropped out because I really think he should have hung in there at least until today.

I loved Fred, well I still do actually but he is done except maybe as a VP candidate. Voting for Fred or Duncan or Huck is a vote helping McCain, so please make your vote count and vote for Mitt Romney!

Keep Hope Alive! Vote Mitt Today so we can Vote Mitt Tomorrow!

Illinois seems like a wacky primary ballot. The vote for the GOP candidate appears to mean NOTHING. The delegates for each district are on the ballot and their respective candidate is listed. Those delegates are the important vote. Thus, I’m planning to vote for Fred for a message but support the Romney delegates to keep out McCain.

“I personally think the campaign is obscenely long and would rather see it compressed back to the year before election day.”

Agree with you there. It’s ridiculous.

I don’t blame FRed.

He was fighting with moles in his campaign, who were holding a grudge over the departure of the Fox guy who joined the campaign. Every time he started getting ahead, they floated another vicious rumor.

He couldn’t root them out. He was going to have to fire a good portion of his staff, and he knew he couldn’t continue if that happened, due to bad press and lack of staff.

I was a FredHead. If he would have stuck it out I would have voted for him today. Since he didn’t I had to look at the rest. The least offensive was Romney. Apparently a lot of freepers did felt the same way looking at our polls before and after Fred dropped out.

I would love to see a brokered convention where conservatism comes out the winner but I’m not optimistic that we can derail the McInsane Express. We’ll know a lot more tomorrow.

Please don’t do this. I was for Thompson but he is out. Forget HUCK, Paul, and the rest. Vote for Romney and let’s roll.

I’ve wanted a chance to vote for him for well over a decade. I am NOT wasting it. :)

I guess we all have a different definition of what wasting means.

I voted for Fred this morning :)

I don’t expect it will have any impact, but I just could not bring myself to vote for anyone else.

I agree with your comments on the length of the campaign season, and I had no problem with why he entered the race when he did. My problem with his campaign stems from how it was run once he was in. He did well on framing the issues, but did not “campaign” well. Yes, part of the problem stemmed from lack of media attention, but there are ways a candidate can make his own ‘news’ and Fred did none of that. He appeared in debates and did tours. That was it.

I really wanted to see him take hold. But he never did and, frankly, I do find some fault with him on that.

No “weakminded” is thinking anyone buys the Romney camp line that “a vote for anyone but ME ME ME ME is a vote for McCain.”

Note even Huckleberry supporters are dumb enough to buy that.

Sorry, Romney is a from-the-cradle liberal; worse than McCain (who at least is actually honestly pro-life), just a better liar.

All Romney is doing is running to the right, as his liberal father Romney, Sr. advised him to do after Romney, Sr. got his arse whooped by Richard Nixe because Romney, Sr. openly admitted being a liberal and advocated surrender in Vietnam.

Myth Romney, McQueer, and the Huckster and are all losers, and it is time to leave the plantation.

“Just can’t vote for McCain, Romney, or Huckabee in the primary. I will vote for the Republican candidate in the general election.”

That’s also what mrs riverdawg and I decided this morning. We briefly thought about voting strategically in the Democrat primary, for the candidate whom we thought would be easier to beat in November. We couldn’t decide whether that was Obama or Hillary.
