Please explain to me what forced annexation in North Carolina has to do with eminent domain or the NC conserving property. The site you posted has to do with cities trying to annex parts of a county into the city. It has nothing at all to do with eminent domain.

Most of the land grabs (eminent domain) these days are to build something — a road, utility lines, business centers. No conservation at all. Why would conservation groups be behind that destroying land?
Look a little further around that site, and do a little research on your own. I have no dog in your fight, but I have one in what they do to private land owners here in WI. You worry about your state, I’ll worry about mine.
I can hardly wait to inherit that land. It’s 200+ acres of woodland, tillable farmland, has a pond and a trout stream on it. I’m looking ahead to self preservation so I can use that land as *I* see fit, with no meddling by any conservation advocacy group.
