Hillary Clinton: My Plan for Shared Prosperity
Wall Street Journal ^ | 2/4/08 | Hillary Clinton

By HILLARY CLINTON February 4, 2008; Page A15

Throughout my campaign, I have been listening to the voices of people across America. I met one man who told me, "I don't know what I did wrong. I got my education and I worked hard. I've been at the same company for 12 years now, but I've just been asked to train my successor because my job is moving to another country."

Another woman said to me, "I just can't make ends meet. My health care premiums have doubled, college tuition is up. How am I supposed to make it as a single mom?"

I am running for president to bring those voices to the White House and give people a chance to achieve the American Dream: having a good job, owning their own home and living with financial security. That means tackling our toughest challenges -- rising inequality, stagnating wages and a growing sense that too many middle class families are just one pink slip away from financial devastation.

My measure of economic success will never be a single, dry statistic. Rather, success means an economy that allows those at the bottom to work their way into the middle class, without pushing anyone out. It means leaving people better off when I finish than when I start. In short, success means an economy that shares its prosperity with all.

She means her plan for shared economic misery.

This shows how the left uses an example to try to illustrate a larger collective picture. Examples are dangerous and often irrelevant to any solution to a problem perceived or real. Its part of the Marxist play book.

If she really gave a damn about the poor soul who has to train his replacement then maybe she should be talking about elimination of all business and corporate taxes so the jobs would stay here.

As I read it, all I could think of was - who's going to pay for all of this?

You are. Along with the rest of the us productive hard working types. Until enough of us decide the battle is not worth the cost and become them.

That what McCain's all about. In McCain's view It is too hard to fight the Clinton Democrats. The GOP has to become just like them instead. A Republican like McCain purposing a $.50 a gallon gas tax HIKE? IF the GOP cannot hold the line on taxes, there is nothing left.

God save the Republic! How did it ever come to this? A race between the GOP Establishment and the Democrat Establishment to see who can establish a autocratic, bureaucratic European Socialist style Govt in the USA 1st.

How is it possible to train the successor for your job, when the company is leaving the country for cheaper labor?

A transporter like the one on Star Trek??

Lest we forget the so called environmental impact concerns that place restrictions on domestic livelihood via business. ; )

I think that in schools that the A students need to share their grades with the students that are getting F’s. It’s called shared grades. It seems fair to me.

Her lack of economic insight is staggering. For example, increasing subsidies for education will make college tuition even higher. What college will cut tuition, when the federal government is footing the bill?

In short, success means an economy that shares its prosperity with all.

Extending that definition of success to the campaign maybe Hillary should share her campaign donations with those "poor" candidates who have not been able to raise as much cash. After all, its only fair that the Democrats share their prosperity.

Shhhh...you're not supposed to ask questions like that. Pretty soon you'll find out that neither of these people exist.

Your MSG made me laugh!

One time I got a DF “AWARD” from the 9th AVN’s CSM. It was “The Coveted Nick Award” on which is taped a nickle. I screwed up the CSM's day by taking some important papers with me. The papers were destined for the base commander at Ft. Lewis. My award still hangs prominently.

How is it possible to train the successor for your job, when the company is leaving the country for cheaper labor?

Knowing a couple of people this happened to, in some cases the training is done via teleconference between here and, say, India. In other cases the foreign workers who are taking the jobs come here for training.

And the company typically has the employee in a box. Do the training or no severance package, etc. In other words, the employees are screwed royally.

I really do not understand why everyone is so worried, really.

If she gets elected, and gets her way with the oil industry, you won't have to worry about the morning commute. You won't have any fuel to go there anyway, even if you could afford it or the vehicle to put in. And just in time for the global cooling cycle... /s (sorta)

I must note that just prior to changing channels to prevent projectile vomiting (it really messes up the old VCR), I did note that there is one universal about the Democrats when talking to a human audience. They constantly do the bobblehead thing after making whatever remark they want the audience to agree with. What's up with that?
