There is one possibility in all this. Fred may angle for VP under McCain to take over in a year or two. McCain is going to crack, it is just a matter of time. I am surprised he hasn’t yet.

Sad thing is, if he does, we are SOL on getting anyone near the office this cycle, neither Huck nor Mitt will take the general. Even if McCain doesn’t crack and wins both but chooses a moderate for VP we are still SOL.

Irony of all ironies is that McCain, if he picks right, could be the very vehicle to getting a Conservative in office, and because of the short sightedness of all now days, the idea will get shredded.

It would be nice if McCain picks a conservative as his VP, but there’s no reason for him to do so, if personal animosity is the key issue. It’s obvious that the conservative movement hates him, so the only reason he’d choose a conservative would be to mollify them and unite them behind that VP candidate.

That would be a rational thing to do.

We’ll see if McCain is rational.
