Huckabee Hints Clear Channel Conspiring With Romney
NewsBusters ^ | Matthew Sheffield

Speaking at a news conference in Oklahoma, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee floated the idea that the reason the vast majority of America's conservative talk radio hosts aren't endorsing him or John McCain is because Mitt Romney's investment firm owns a significant share of Clear Channel Communications, the nation's largest radio syndication company.

"Some suggest that the fact that Bain Capital owns a major stake in Clear Channel is on Sean's network, maybe there's a correlation. I don't know."

The Sean he was referring to had to be none other than Sean Hannity, America's number-two talk radio host behind Rush Limbaugh.

” So who is a true Conservative so I can check their record?”

Tom Tancredo has the best record of anyone who has ever run for president.

Huckabee is probably right—I don’t doubt it. However, it is time for Huckabee to withdraw from the race. He has become the spoiler and a vote for him is a vote for Mccain. In Missouri, Romney and Huckabee are neck and neck with about 25-27% of the vote—McCain has a mere 38%, however, he will win since the votes are split between Huckabee and Romney. This is the new Republican Party. I remember how Nader kept Gore from winning in 2000 in Florida, interestingly, Nader helped Bush win. I see the same thing happening with Huckabee and Romney—it is time for Huckabee to step down.

Governor Huckabee is right on one point. He does not know. But that does not seem to bother him and the fact that he is willing to throw out this charge based on admitted ignorance is illustrative of a bigoted, small-minded way of sniping at an opponent that reminds one of Jeemy sniping at Reagan.

It indicates that Governor Huckabee is willing to carry that bigotry into effect by positioning himself to be Senator McCain’s running mate. This Carteresque mean-spirited bigotry will fit well with Senator McCain’s ferret-like willingness to jump on and distort what an opponent says. They’ll make a great team.

The establishment types who are falling all over themselves to rush to nominate Senator McCain because of polls so far ahead that show he would beat Clinton and Obama are delusional.

The known characteristics of Senator McCain and Governor Hucabee will enable the skilled Clinton operatives, working with Obama to trap the team of Senator McCain and Governor Huckabee consistiently into unwise comments and strange and even melt-down moments and statements.

Attacking talk radio is only the beginning of the idiocy that these two display between them in certain moments that foreshadow what is increasingly looking like a Democrat retaking of the White House.

The thing is, Romney doesn’t own it. Anyway, what is the difference between a radio conglomerate playing favorites and the TV networks? They all do it. Why do you think Huckster has been on Fox all weekend?

Great, just what the Republican Party needs, candidates who will rail against the “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy” a la Hillary. It couldn’t be that a number of high-profile conservative pundits think Huckabee and McCain are wrong on the issues and potentially bad for the party, could it? Nope, must be those darn “elite insider Beltway” Republicans buying off radio commentators and bloggers from their smoky backroom.

The nation’s leading abortion advocate, NARAL Pro-Choice America, criticized Romney, writing: “[A]s governor he initially expressed pro-choice beliefs but had a generally anti-choice record. His position on choice has changed. His position is now anti-choice.”

What did you say?

Rush will have the opportunity to endorse Romney if he's the nominee.

He did say that Romney's speech on religion and public life was excellent. I have not heard the speech.

Why, it’s Mitt Romney!

Drinking Coffee These articles always fail to mention that T.H. Lee together with Bain Capital raised the monies to purchase Clear Channel.  They also fail to mention that what these investment companies actually do is essentially convince people with money to pool together in an investment to purchase companies needing a boost of capital.  In short, the real money may very well have come from the Arkansas Teachers Union or Bill & Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, Tom Brady, Cindy McCain, Scott Rasmussen or me.

“Huckabee has shown what he really is: a nasty little pr**k . At first I thought it was just that he hates Mitt because Mitt is rich and handsome, with a beautiful family, but it’s become obvious that Huck is kissing up to McCain in order to get McCain to pick him for VP.”

When McCain is done with Huckabee, he be cast aside like McCain’s first wife...

I assume it is because Fox News has given an advantage to him as they did with Rudy Giuliani.

“This is just DIRTY POLITICS by Huckabee

(States his claim with no references and then says - but “I don’t know...”)

Very slick.”

Huckabee’s fans can’t defend him on this one.

I have decided to stay with Huckabee because Romney’s values and mine are just too different. I never had any bad feelings towards him though and figure who wins, wins. Due to this hate (and it is hate) towards anything negative towards him lately makes me think “Anyone but Romney” the last few days because to go thru four years of attacks anytime someone questions anything about “Mr. Perfect” is a nauseating thought. I don’t know if anyone else feels the same but IMO some Romney supporters have actually hurt his chances , by trying to shut out any other thoughts or debate. JMO

“I hope McCain isn’t stupid enough to give Huckabee the VP slot. If McCain does that, you can kiss this election “bye, bye”.”

One flush, two turds.

CindyDawg, the same thing could be said about the Giuliani supporters and now the McCain supporters. They have successfully alienated all the other voters, and the goal of splitting the GOP will succeed. America loses.

"Same as the Jesus/satan’s brother comment. He makes outrageous comments but state’s he doesn’t know as some kind of stupid cover. He thinks he’s really clever."

Why is envy and lying okay with Huckster?
