American Council For Capital Formation Study: McCain-Lieberman Could Hike Gasoline Prices By 50 Cents Per Gallon. "A study by an economic research institute, the American Council for Capital Formation, underscored these findings, estimating that under S. 139: ... By 2020, gasoline prices would increase 30 to 50 cents per gallon." (H. Sterling Burnett, "Regulating Greenhouse Gas Emissions," National Center For Policy Analysis, 11/18/04)
The EPA Estimated Sen. McCain's Plan Would Hike Gas Prices By 68 Cents Per Gallon. "The EPA has estimated what the McCain energy tax would mean to consumers. Since the bill's provisions are phased in, the full cost of the tax would not be felt for a number of years. But in a letter to Senator McCain dated July 2007, the EPA estimated that the tax will be about $.26 cents in current dollars per gallon of gasoline by 2030 and $.68 cents per gallon by 2050." (Roy Cordato, "McCain's Costly Tax On Energy," National Review, http://article.nationalreview.com/, Posted 1/10/08)

I’m sure lots of Conservatives gave this the green light, as did the President, if they had taken a stand we wouldn’t be discussing it.

The EPA, like all cancers on the American government, is fighting to legitimize and sustain its near-useless presence. So it MUST keep inventing victims and taxation to feed the “fix” needed to protect the “victims”. This is no different than the global warming hoax. Same crap, different title. It all equates to a growing, socialist, cancerous government finding more faux ways to take the wealth of Americans for its own empowerment. Period.

...and if the US would open up An-war and drill we wouldn't be having this discussion. Estimates have over 100 years of oil available for US consumption taking in future use. No new refineries built in over 30 years and people are surprised to learn we are importing not only oil, but over 30% of gasoline is imported....refined someplace else. With technology as fast as it is going does anyone not expect we will not come up with alternative fuel and energy in the next fifty years? The oil fields alone capped in the US would sustained all future use, without Alaska. This is all so stupid and unnecessary...the pointing of fingers, the blaming for this and that, all contrived to keep the US citizen Zero'd in on the "parties" while the politicos rake in the cash and play the blame game...meanwhile, we suffer and pay through the nose so they can keep playing....don't the phrase "consider yourself lucky your not paying $5 or $6 a gallon" sound familiar? Anyone wanna guess what we would be paying if they built more refineries and opened up An-war and capped wells? You see as long as they (the government) keeps the prices high, they keep the taxes high.....wanna see oil prices drop down to $20 a barrel or lower?, open up the reserves and start selling our oil to China and India and get competitive with our Arab friends. No, we'll pay exorbitant prices for alternatives now,(that will never go down), and we'll take it in the back while the lazy politicos point their fingers and stuff their pockets, each election year we get promises and each election term the idiots get elected but DO NOTHING, it's the game. As long as there's someone willing to take up the issue opposing oil exploration and refineries the fat cats sit back and point the finger...reason to do nothing. Isn't it peculiar that no one is protesting China,Korea,Arab States,Venezula,Dutch,British,Japan and others, drilling off the Florida coast where we can't drill? How come we don't hear politicians protesting as vigorously about them? Taxes Social Security Illegals

Heres a candidate for President that would just set the prices based on which oil company donated to most money to her.http://www.peterfpaul.com/
The Hillary Clinton Accountability Project will shortly launch its fundraising drive to raise $500,000 to support the most important citizens legal initiative of 2008. The landmark civil fraud suit of Paul v Clinton et al which the California Supreme Court ordered to proceed against the Clintons, Grammys Producer Gary Smith and Clinton agent Jim Levin, will be set for trial and a discovery schedule at a special conference to be held in Los Angeles Superior Court on February 21, 2008.
The first law suit in American history to bring a President and a Senator to court for defrauding the Senators largest campaign donor and his public company will be set for trial and discovery at the Case Management Conference before Judge Munoz. Discovery and depositions of key witnesses, including the Clinton family, Al Gore, Ed Rendell, Terry McAuliffe, Harold Ickes, Howard Wolfson, Kelly Craighead, Barbara Streisand, Brad Pitt, Larry King, Mike Wallace among an array of political and entertainment leaders, will present an inside look at a culture of corruption that will shock the public.

Thanks for reading my mind. I’m starting to think the whole country is crazy. To top it off, my once Conservative thinking sister in-law called me up to tell me she’s supporting Obama. She didn’t want to discuss it because she knows how I am... I love her dearly, but WTF????
Man, I’m having a bad week.

Don’t worry, it won’t be an issue. After McCain pays billions of dollars on the “Manhattan Project” for “clean and renewable” fuels, we won’t be using “fossil fuels” anymore.
