Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes may not get invited to the televised debates but that doesn't mean he's going stay out of the fray or attack his opponents when he believes they've abandoned his party's values particularly on the issue of same-sex marriage.
On his campaign website this week, Keyes blasted former Gov. Mitt Romney for being "single-handedly responsible for instituting same-sex marriage in Massachusetts" for the way he responded to a state court ruling in 2003.
"Most people are unaware of the way Massachusetts came to adopt same-sex marriage," the former Reagan administration diplomat said. "They think the state's Supreme Judicial Court forced it to happen. That's incorrect."
"The court merely issued an opinion stating that, in its view, the existing marriage law was unconstitutional because it failed to allow persons of the same sex to marry," Keyes said. "The court then gave the legislature 180 days to 'take such action as it may deem appropriate in light of this opinion' implicitly telling lawmakers to come up with a new marriage statute."

The SJC is not an all-powerful branch designed to supersede the other two.
It’s about damn time some politician with a set of cojones instruct the sheeple about this “discovery”.
So Alan, will you be happier with McCain?
Against what... the SJC? Same-sex marriage in MA was decreed by the Supreme Judicial Court... and an overwhelmingly, DemocRAT Legislature enabled them to do so. Anyone familiar with MA politics knows this... so take your BS somewhere else.
He used what was effectively an executive order...no law.
RE: WND
It’s a lot more reliable then the hallucinary rants of RINO apologists frequently posted herein
So if Keyes is lying, what really happened in Mass?
Dio, you have the best pix. Nice job.
Serious question: Do you read WND and consider it to be a good source of facts?
Then they start over at lie #1 all over again.
How many times do we have to answer? You tell me.
I’m not voting for McCain in the primary, but I’d prefer him over Mitt. At least with McCain we know what we’re getting. Romney could be ANYTHING in the next couple of years.
I don’t know. This is the first time I’ve asked.

See post #33... then maybe you’ll get a clue.
Long story short there was a court case who took court case and an existing law and by judicial fiat they redefined marriage.
EG A law said 'husband and wife'...and the court took it upon itself to say that 'husband' doesn't mean that it has to apply to men only, and 'wife' doesn't have to apply to women only.
They did not consult the governor nor the legislature in this by the way. Complete fiat.
By a simple redefinition of what words mean from the judges bench the court sent the whole affair into overdrive.
Romney hence was on the first plane to Washington DC testifying in front of the US Senate in behalf of a constitutional ammendment defining marriage.
He also fought to get the measure put on the ballot in Massachussetts, but the legislature blocked it.
Search around freerepublic and you can find this discussed ad naseum. Yet anti mormons and anti mitt people dredge up and debunked story over and over again.
By their logic Richard Nixon should be hated by all--why? Because HE WAS RESPONSIBLE for Roe V Wade....
In fact Nixon could not control the court and neither could Mitt. But Mitt fought it every single step of the way.
Take it from a Romney supporter; The picture you posted showing Romney joyfully signing his own version of Hillarycare Coercive slashes away at my insides.
Despite that, I’d rather fight tooth and nail against Romney on this single Coercive Care debacle, than having to fight tooth and nail against lame McCain’s multiple anti conservative debacles on multiple fronts.
In other words, thankyou for reminding us Romney well deserves to squirm uncomfortably on his HillaryCare initiative; but McCain deserves to be fried in Hell for everything he has done and intends to do to wreck this Country.
As far as the gay marraige thing goes, I’m not quite sure Romney could have done much to block it. Although once it was enacted, he did have one last ditch grandstanding option of disallowing the issuance of marraige certificates statewide (hetero and homo.)
I personally would have liked to see such a stunt tried and all the attendant ruckus, but “in the end” (pun intended), such a stand might have caused more harm than good.

Nice to see the person writing your Wikipedia article left out the details of May 17.
Yes, we know all too well what we’re getting with McCain. With McCain, we’re getting a Democrat on the order of say. a Hillary Clinton. There is little difference between McCain and Clinton.
