That bothers me too maica; but the media always refer to Bush 41 as President Bush also. I think it was anita, who told us once in one of her terrific media nuggets, the policy (written no less) of the media, is President BUsh the first time, and Mr. Bush after that. Who knows why.

Brit thinks March at the soonest for a dem winner. Interesting. LOL, both Maura and Brit tell Juan he is WRONG on the delegates. Juan is a big Hillary supporter.

Speaking of the debate, Chris talks about the “dream ticket” that Wolfie was pushing. I doubt seriously that Barak would accept second fiddle to Hillary and I’m certain that Hillary would never accept the number two slot.

Kristol brings reality into the question: Barack would NEVER ask Hillary to be his running mate.

Years ago, when I first noticed the Mr Bush usage, I wrote to several reporters and editorial page editors and got replies, telling me of their ‘style’ for name usage. That is for print. TV reporters picked up on it when W became president.

The same reporters do not say Mr Kerry, Mr Obama, Mrs Clinton or Mr McCain. They always say Senator for the above names. So I KNOW that the Mr Bush is a deliberate diss.

From what I understand modern English or English American rule on this is that you give the person their full name/title the first time in an article there after whether it is male or female it is acceptable to use just the surname.

This is almost a mixture of a British tradition where it was not considered good form for a male to answer the phone Mr so and so but only to use his surname. Sadly this has died out and many times I here people say and answer the phone as Mr so and so.

Though in the case of the media often they do not give the President the courtesy of this title in the first place and go straight to Bush or Mr Bush. Just another symptom of BDS IMHO and of course media bias.

Regarding other ex Republican Presidents still being referred to as President Bush IMHO they do this because really these people have no real influence any more even when endorsing candidate etc. The current President though being a Republican and doubly as it is GWB they wish to minimize his authority and therefore do not refer to his official title.

A local conservative talk show host said regarding Hillary choosing B. Hussein as her running mate or he picking her that she would never pick him because she truly despises him for daring challenge her coronation, and he would never pick her because then he would have to hire a large staff of food tasters!
