"They have been having discussions with a Russian whom we'll call "T" for Translator. T's father was the Soviet military intelligence officer who ran the "Hanoi Hilton" prison holding captured Americans during the Vietnam War."
...source of great credibility in the eyes of some.
[Little irony and sarcasm there.]
I'm not in favor of having McCain as our president due to some of his policy positions, but a couple of the accusations against him are more than a little nutty and won't fly farther than conspiracy story circles.

why would he get endorsements from some really solid people - like Ted Olson?
Looking into this a bit more, I see that Olson had been on the judicial selection committee for Guiliani, that in his endorsement, Olson specifically praised McCains preference for conservative justices Roberts, Scalia, Thomas and Alito, and that in accepting the endorsement, McCain specifically appreciated the input Olson could have on judicial issues.
If this means that Olson gets a voice in picking judges, and or that Olson himself ends up on the Supreme Court, then that would be a major plus for McCain.

No, you didn’t seem to approve of some of the primary tactics, this is still vetting-lite.
These are the Clintons, with the worse one of the two - mud bath time, this will be dirtiest presidential election of all time.

It should be crystal clear to everyone what is going to happen if McCain gets the nomination. It would be funny to see Romney pull it out and debate his past... I mean his opponent on the issues. Either one would be a disaster.

I do not approve of dirty tricks in primaries any more than I approve of them in the general election. I know enough to expect them, but that is very different from approving of them.
I will admit that I am getting tired of the overblown rhetoric from Conservatives about John McCain. McCain's not anywhere near my first choice and I will vote against him on Tuesday, but some of the stuff being posted by Republicans on this board and around the net is more typical of the overblown hysterics of the Kos/DU crowd. It is short of logic and long on emotion...which is not typical of conservatives...

This thing reads like a badly-written spy thriller.
According to T, they reveal that McCain had made an "accommodation" with his captors, and in exchange, T's father saw that he was provided with an apartment in Hanoi and the services of two prostitutes.
I don't buy this for a moment. And if it did happen, you can bet there would be a heck of a lot more than handwritten notes in either Russian or Vietnamese. There would be photos, and lots of them.
I don't like McCain. I don't want him to be the nominee. I think he is unstable to the point of paranoid insanity -- but I don't believe he would cooperate with the Vietnamese.

“The Clintons wouldnt touch this with a ten-foot pole.”
They don’t need to touch it. They’ve got plenty of proxies to “get the word out” for them.... like this thread on Free Republic.

Okay, gotcha....thought you might have been some purist that insisted on “clean” politics, an idealist. You can understand why that’s incompatible with a Clinton anywhere around.
I think Juan is still a patriot and a hero, but I don’t want him as the GOP nominee, he’ll go down in flames.

You might be right. My sense is that these accusations are mostly accurate, but I have no real way of knowing.
I've just started reading Ken Timmerman's new book Shadow Warriors. The CIA is a seriously sick beast. While the allegations in the above article strike several of the posters on this thread as whacked out tin foil hat stuff, I tend more toward suspecting that there are substantial veins of truth running through here.
Still, I appreciate the doubts expressed here, such as yours. This is to a considerable extent a gut check -- ones take on this is as much a reflection of ones self as it is of the actual events. We clearly lack enough verifiable evidence to decide conclusively either way.

Better us getting this out now, then the Clintons getting it out five days before the election.

He IS the 'Rat nominee. Not quite. He is the media's 'PUB nominee (with the full expectation they will rip him to shreds once he has the nod). They are in 'love' with him at the moment because they KNOW the 'RATs will beat him, plain and simple.
