Here is the message I heard this afternoon.
Hi, this is Senator John McCain. I'm calling today to personally ask for your vote and make a pledge to you. As your president, I promise to lead our nation and our party as a Ronald Reagan conservative. I'll lower your taxes, veto wasteful government spending, and ensure our party returns to the smaller government principles on which it began.
I'll secure our border first before pursuing any other immigration reform. I'll appoint conservative judges like justices Alito and Roberts. I will protect the sanctity of life; I have a 24-year record to prove it.
This is my commitment to you. As you go to the polls, consider our greatest challenge as a nation is to defeat a relentless enemy - the radical Islamist extremists. My life experiences prepared me better than any other candidate to defeat this enemy. We can and will win this war.
Again, this is John McCain and I humbly ask you to vote for me.
Paid for by John McCain 2008
Hey! I think that’s a pretty clever idea if for some ridiculous reason Mitt can’t beat him out of the nomination!!! (like too many of us giving in to some crazy notion that McCain is inevitable, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy)
right on the money doug, she will change the rules. I cannot believe how many here on FR have mentioned they will vote for the ‘beast over MACLAME. I cannot stand the guy, he is rotten to the core but the ‘beast is a pure socialist satanic witch who if more people were up on just what she has done in her life would NEVER consider pulling the lever for her. I’d love to write in dunc hunter but I feel that is just helping hillary out so I’ve gotta go with JM or Mitt.
that is funny. I did something like that with a push poll last week, i was not very nice.
The thing though...McCain never ever says he will send a person home, it is always secure the borders first. he never says what next.
Doug - as much as I have admired your hard work and efforts on behalf of conservatives everywhere, this is where you and I will have to agree to disagree.
The GOP must stop taking conservatives for granted and McCain must not be rewarded for his treachery towards us with our time, money, volunteer service or votes.
America will survive Hillary. Conservatives will not survive McCain.
I wholeheartedly agree. However, with McCain as the nominee, Hillary cannot be stopped. She probably has so much dirt on McCain, even his own mother won't vote for him.
that is about the long and short of it....
lolol.
Doug, I got one today too. I slammed the phone down when I heard; “This is John McCain...” I know the Clintons must be stopped at all costs, but what can we do? I cannot, will not, vote for McCain.
I haven’t heard from him. Good. LOL
According to a genuine conservative, former Senator Rick Santorum (R - PA), John McCain impeded conservative initiatives in the Senate at nearly every opportunity.
How on earth did the Republican party end up with a front-runner who.....
1. Wanted to be John Fn Kerrys running mate??....
2. Was a corrupt member of the Keating Five?....
3. Has been duped by the Euro-socialist global warming alarmists?....
4. Wants to roll out the red carpet for the illegal alien hordes?....
5. Was one of two senators (along with the ignoble Lincoln Chafee) who joined the Democrats in voting against the Bush tax cuts?....
6. Proudly put his name to the most dangerous assault on free speech (McCain-Feingold) in the nations history?....
7. Is older than Bob Dole was when Dole ran for President in 1996, and who would be the oldest man in history to try to win the Presidency as a major party candidate?
Somebody wake me up in 2012 if America is still around.
God help us.

McCain is mental as anyone watching the debate in CA could see.
The sooner he self-destructs the better for us all.
Romney has a good chance if Maine is any indication.
Even so it is still early. No-one is the veep candidate yet. The Clintons haven’t dropped the dirty bomb on Baraq Obama yet if they have it.
Ditto....
I got that call too this evening. Survey call-press 1 for Paul, 2 for McCain, 3 for Romney and 4 for Huck. I pressed 3. I’m curious who’s campaign is doing it.
Thanks! Nightmares for me tonight. lmao
That’s where we disagree. We tried to impeach her husband. You don’t wound the king and live to tell about it. She will change the rules through executive orders. She will shut down talk radio by either blackmailing or having whacked one of the 5 FCC commissioners. The Fairness Doctrine will be instituted without congress. She will use blackmail and intimidation to get rid of her strongest opposition.
People have no idea how she will use her power. No idea at all. Peter Paul believes he is in her top 5 list of enemies. In the next breath, he says I am probably in the top 15. I have something really at stake here. She is nothing like this nation has ever before seen.
Everyone say a prayer that Mitt does well on Super Tuesday.
The Clintons also tried to nationalize the healthcare industry, a Marxist/socialist tactic.
They also raised taxes.
That being said McCain is worse as he has fought for over a decade to give Amnesty to 30 million illegals and their relatives back in the 3rd world. And now McCain has the nerve to say he is against Amnesty. No that’s what McCain wants, Amnesty as that is his life’s work. This way this Marxist can ensure that there will be more democrat voters for socialism and for Hillary who will succeed him.
Sounds reasonable to me. If he shows conviction and walks the walk and chooses a VP that is more conservative then he is then I can vote for him. He did vote for Alito and Roberts, McCain is Pro-Life, he has never been a proponent of Gay Marriage or gay rights written into law though he favors letting the states decide the issue which I don’t think is without merit. He also has been strong on holding the line against raising taxes. Maybe someone can find it but I can not find one vote where McCain has ever voted to raise taxes specifically. Some of his rhetoric is questionable but he most certainly isn’t a tax and spend liberal rather the contrary.
He is far more conservative than the other two in the race. They have pledges and he has a record. He has pissed me off and I wish he wasn’t going to be the nominee. I pray for a brokered convention but if we get him and he behaves himself then I’ll give him a chance.
Familiarize yourself with the concept of ‘rock bottom’. Consider the notion that this country will, in the end, have to go there before any meaningful change can occur. If that means another Clinton in the White House, then so be it.
There will never be a good time for this, there will always be something lost. The only thing to be gained is time, the sooner it’s done the sooner it will be over.
And the sooner we can begin building a new nation, one that works.
