Cause of Durango fire, explosion still unknown
Fire inspectors started sifting through the rubble Saturday of the site where three buildings were destroyed by a fire and explosion Friday.
A fire started around 1:40 p.m. at Seasons Restaurant, located at 764 Main Ave. in downtown Durango. The fire apparently started in the kitchen. A spokesperson for Durango Fire and Rescue Authority speculated to the Durango Herald that the gas might not have been turned off at the restaurant, but said it would be a day or two before an official cause was known.
