I read somewhere that Battle Hymmn of the Republic was Winston Churchill's favorite song song during WWII.

Churchill had it played at his funeral, in part as tribute to his mother, who was an American. I saw it live, one of the first programs transmitted by satellite to American TV, in 1964.
