Carter Albrecht, the musician in Dallas that went crazy and was shot by his neighbor in a case of mistaken identity, did a show with my daughter once. I’d met him a few times. Brilliant, soft spoken, encouraging to a young artist. His girlfriend said he’d never acted out of sorts until taking Chantix. I’ll pass.

Chantix did the trick for many people at a military base where I was doing some work. My son gave it a shot and quit smoking in a few days. My wife's supervisor tried it, but couldn't stick with it. She's been taking SSRI's to ward off hot flashes from menopause. It just wasnt' a good fit for her. My son reported some unusually vivid dreams while he was taking it.

I smoked 2 - 3 packs a day, loved my Marlboro lights. Heard about Chantix and asked my doc about the drug. He gave me a script for it. I took Chantix for 2 weeks. The first week, I continued to smoke. I did have some weird dreams, that was my only side effect. I decided that I would not take the Chantix after the 2nd week, just because I don't like taking any kind of meds, unless medically necessary. Well anyway, it is almost a year since my last cigarette; 2/12/07 is my quit date.

P.S. The high cost of cigarette's never motivated me to quit. My dear Goddaughter haunting me about quiting was my motivation. Thanks, Meggie :-)

I took Chantix for 3 weeks. After the first week (and after moving up to the full dose), every morning I got nauseous, and threw up within ten minutes of taking the pill. Horrible drug - the cure was worse than the disease.
