Obviously I agree with Dobson on this issue, but Dobson failed to speak up for any conservatives when we still had some in the race. Stopping McCain is job one, but we wouldn’t be here had conservatives supported conservative candidates in the first place. Wait too long for perfection to come along, and you wind up where we have wound up.
That's simply *not* true.
He gave a nod early on, while Brownback was still in the race- Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, and Brownback were all satisfactory to him at the time.
On the other hand, he said he would not vote for Giuliani, McCain, or Thompson, and more mildly, Romney, because he felt many evangelicals would have trouble voting for a Mormon.
Not so.
The last time the conservatives sat out on the limp wristed Republican party, we ended up with 8 years of Clinton. We waited and ended up with Bush, of whom has done an admirable ( not perfect) job of governing, but still showed some liberal tendencies.
This time around we conservatives are not going to be told to support the "party" favorite, just because they think he's the only one who can beat Hillary. Besides, I think Ann is correct when she says Hillary's more conservative than McCain!
The fact that the Conservatives make up the largest part of the Republican base, makes no difference to the power brokers within the party, because they think that we will vote for anyone just to stop Hillary. WHY?
Other than his stint in a POW Camp, and the fact he might be plumbed a little differently; how is he any better than Hillary?
Well I say if the Republicans want to be liberal, then they can do it without my support. I too may vote for the Democrat nominee if McCain wins the Republican nomination, because if I have to vote for a liberal, at least I'll vote for one who's not trying to convince me they're a conservative.
