"Wait too long for perfection to come along, and you wind up where we have wound up."

Not so.

The last time the conservatives sat out on the limp wristed Republican party, we ended up with 8 years of Clinton. We waited and ended up with Bush, of whom has done an admirable ( not perfect) job of governing, but still showed some liberal tendencies.

This time around we conservatives are not going to be told to support the "party" favorite, just because they think he's the only one who can beat Hillary. Besides, I think Ann is correct when she says Hillary's more conservative than McCain!

The fact that the Conservatives make up the largest part of the Republican base, makes no difference to the power brokers within the party, because they think that we will vote for anyone just to stop Hillary. WHY?

Other than his stint in a POW Camp, and the fact he might be plumbed a little differently; how is he any better than Hillary?

Well I say if the Republicans want to be liberal, then they can do it without my support. I too may vote for the Democrat nominee if McCain wins the Republican nomination, because if I have to vote for a liberal, at least I'll vote for one who's not trying to convince me they're a conservative.

Actually, I think you just agreed with me.

Dobson's hit job on Thompson is part of why we are where we are. The failure of conservatives to unite behind any one of the imperfect conservative candidates in the race is what led us to where we are. We waited for the perfect conservative to come along, and the real conservatives left the field. Now we are faced with what we are faced with, two non-conservatives (Huck and Romney) versus the anti-conservatives (McCain and the Dems). Like you, I can't vote for any of the anti-conservatives.

But only a few weeks back we had conservatives in the race to choose from. We waited too long to get behind them (not you or I, but the party at large, and the opinion-makers like Dobson and Limbaugh) and now we are faced with the prospect of a McCain presidency. Or after the press gets through with him, another Clinton presidency.
