You’re right. Only those who did the time can question anothers claim. It reminds me of the REMF/RAMF buttheads who talk about how hard their recent deployments were. Papercuts are a big issue! They get called out and if they have a bonefied experience then they get a pass. That is all that is going on here....not that I am accusing McCain of being a REMF but those who were in Vietnam have every right to scrutinize and call him out for some “straight talk” regarding his time and the burden of proof falls on him to answer the allegations if he wants those of us still in uniform to take him seriously.
If you don’t know the history, I can’t help you.
I am a vet too, but my beef with McCain is policy and temperament based. is service may or may not have affected that, but I personally doubt it. His ego and temperament were created long before he was captured.
JUAN MCCAIN HAS HIRED AN ADVISOR THAT ONCE WORKED FOR VICENTE FOX...WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT HIM
Disagree. McCain was offered early release because his old man was the Navy Pacific commander and they thought they could get some mileage out of it. McCain turned it down and stayed a few more years in that hell hole. I don’t like the man’s politics, but I won’t question his service.
McCain is truly the Manchurian Candidate.
But you can get anyone to do anything with the right
“technique” if they are a prisoner. Its merely a matter of time. We shouldn’t hold against him anything he did while in the hands of those fiends.
IMHO, it is BS.
Former Mexican Statesman Joins McCain Camp
Juan Hernandez, the man who served in Vicente Fox’s cabinet when the latter was president of Mexico, is now advising Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on reaching out to Hispanics during his presidential bid.
The fact that (McCain) would pick a person who has worked as a foreign government official is very troubling,” Steven Camarota, director of research with the Center for Immigration Studies

Watch the videos.......
“But you know what? McCain does not publicly dispute this status ... he basks in the limelight when someone calls him that ... watch the endorsement by Arnold yesterday and when Arnold mentions McCain as a HERO he beams at the words.”
You are right. I guess every time that someone chooses to use words to introduce him to a crowd, functions, meeting, bible class, that McCain is a hero, he can preface his remarks with “I am not a hero.” How utterly callous of him.
Those questions started some time and McCain did apparently seek to be JFKerry's VEEP, according to JFKerry and McCain did with his magical wand smack his authoritarian speech hand across the cheeks of the Swiftboat Vets.....
“they thought they could get some mileage out of it.”
If they thought they could get mileage out of it they would have done it. McCain’s wishes would not have mattered.
HA!
Sorry about that. It’s just with all the venom from the primaries, I wanted to overclarify so that I could get solid information.
Sadly, getting Aids and not dying is considered “heroic” too. I think we are “kicking against the pricks” here.
McCain has earned his own inspection given how he dismissed those Swiftboat Vets with his speech glove.
Another myth...He was REQUIRED to refuse early release.
The Senior POW OIC is required to implement release of POWs under his command on the basis of "1st in 1st out".
McCain was NOT entitled to the early release based on his "family connections" or the level at which he may have cooperated with his Communist captors....
His "family position" and whatever "cooperation" he provided - secured for McCain a level of medical treatment OUTSIDE the Hanoi Hilton that was enjoyed by NO OTHER POWs.
No doubt McCain suffered... But McCain, better than most - found a way to parlay his lackluster military service into a lifetime position sucking at the public tit..
Not unlike Kerry -- whom he DEFENDED against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth..
McCain in his defense of Kerry, also went over the edge and slandered the TRULY honorable Swift Boat Veterans....
I know that there are people who are very angry and feel McCain betrayed the POW/MIA cause. That’s legitimate criticism, but takes nothing away from his service.
And some dimbulbs believe it.
McCain is against water-boarding as it’s “torture”. McCain also wants to close Gitmo. These positions are probably influenced by his wartime experiences. Imho, McCain is incorrect on these issues.
