I am a McCain basher but I also remember this time the Democrats owned the House and Senate thats all he had to talk with. It was his job in this position to interface on behalf of the Pentagon and Senate. Sounds like he did a good job. Our complaints need to focus on current problems not the 1970s, Immigration, Global Warming, Campaign spending and Judges where he is screwing the Conservatives.

First off, according to Kerry himself, McCain approached him. I guess he was promised something not to take the offer because we wanted to be Pres.

Second, he was looking to leave the GOP in 2001 to throw control of the Senate to the Dems, but Jeffords beat him to it.

Your guy is no hero but a USER and he is not conservative or Republican.

And now the Republicans, formerly the party of conservatives, will likely nominate this leftist demagogue.

he went on to give a great 2004 convention speech and helped Bush alot on the trail.

And at that same convention McCain told a reporter that he thought John Kerry would make a good president.

True, Romney is a recent convert to conservativism. However do not overlook his highly successful business background. IMO that is what the eocnomy needs right now more than anything else. McCain, Obama, Hillary are all incompetent on economics.

But he didn’t accept when offered, and he went on to give a great 2004 convention speech and helped Bush alot on the trail.

As long as you believe it, that's all that matters.

Let’s start planning for the Nov elections. John McCain will be fine. Hillary needs to be defeated.

you can just automatically skip over any posts that have stupid nicknames included, knowing that there will be nothing insightful therein

I will be applying that same sentiment to you if I stumble across any more of your replies.

this is not going to get any MSM play.

Fox News Dynamic has a MASSIVE push poll out when Rasmsussen’s recent poll has McCain only up by 2%.

The fix is in the MSM has their template.

They want bob dole.

I won’t concede Romney’s defeat until the votes are counted.

I will not vote for McCain in the general, and I have only voted for the Republican in every Presidential election in which I was able to vote. I know there are many more who share my sentiments.

Believe what?

That he didn't accept the VP slot with Kerry when offered and that his 2004 convention speech helped Bush. The evidence of McCain actually damaging the Bush presidency is abundant. But you believe what you want.

McCain is too much - every time he gives an example of standing up and fighting, it's against the Republican President or Republican Senators, whereas his signature pieces of legislation are all in collaboration with Democrats, McCain-Feingold being the prime example. He literally crows over his role in bringing down the Republican Administration appointed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He acccuses Wall Street of greed and talks like a socialist with regard to capitalism, and took a stand against tax cuts because there were no corresponding spending cuts (in his own words), yet as a Senator did nothing to initiate any spending cuts.

and he's a Republican running for the Republican nomination?

HE WILL NOT GET MY VOTE!!!!

Which just further demonstrates that his positions are politically motivated. All about him. He reminds of high school debate clubs where the kids don’t really give a darn about the issues, but are just trying to improve their debate skills. Except with McCain, it’s about just trying to carefully craft his positions in a way that will benefit his political career.

LOL, you think his immigration stance really benefitted him in the Republican primaries? I’m not saying I agree with it, but it took some guts.

My view is Romney is not conservative; McCain is anti-conservative. There is a difference, and if Romney feels a need to honor his campaign promises (and all indications are that he has more honor than most politicians) then he will at least govern as a conservative to some extent. McCain will come in looking to screw everyone on the conservative side. Arnold will be his role model.

With Romney, we move forward, however slowly, while we regroup and try to find a new generation of conservative leadership. Reagan is gone, Newt has gone soft, Delay is crippled and Hunter and DeMint are not well known. A strong leader to coalesce around will be needed to re-grow the conservative base that Bush I and II squandered. Romney may be 4 steps forward and 3 steps back, but we are still going in the right direction. McCain sends the movement backwards; he aims to kill it and he will try mightily.
