McCain win would signal a divorce and a revolution
Washington Post via Houston Chronicle ^ | January 31, 2008 | By E.J. DIONNE JR.

If John McCain secures the Republican presidential nomination, his victory would signal a revolution in American politics — a divorce, after a 28-year marriage, between the Republican and conservative establishments.

McCain would be the first Republican nominee since Gerald Ford in 1976 to win despite opposition from organized conservatism, and also the first whose base in Republican primaries rested on the party's center and its dwindling left. McCain is winning despite conservatives, not because of them.

I listened also. Your problem was you didn’t listen to the end.

After about 20 minutes he explained about the absurdity of his comments.

Both Rush and he do that every once in a while, jerk the listener’s chain. If you’re just flicking through the airwaves you only get part of the “story”.

I was so mad, I turned it off. He was already on thin ice with me for his Rudy infatuation.

Bull Moose Party - Republican Teddy Roosevelt walked out of the Republican convention with his delegates.

This will happen in reverse with conservatives walking out and the Democrap will win.

I believe the conservative base is tired of getting riled up...Hannity should know better...

There is only so much the “base” can do except go vote...Sure we can talk shop to our friends and family about politics, but thats about it...

You can block walk, mail flyers, work in local campaign offices, become voting precinct chairs, get involved in the local county party activities, do some committee work, and go to conventions on the way up to watching some folks dance on th efloor of the National Convention...

Thats about it...But if the party leaderships continue to foster, field and support candidates that do not represent the base, and at lest make the attempt to follow as closely as possible the party platform...

This what you will get, and it was proven in 2004, 2006...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

...from the conservative base...

People (conservative base) are getting tired of holding their noses at the polls every year...

Forming a new party is impractical and will make it worse...Taking back the party and tossing the leadership to the street will hack off a lot of people, but that may be the only way to get us back on track and maybe in a few cycles get us back where we need to be...

I would watch with great excitement to see and hear the temperament of the crowds at the precinct, senatorial district and state conventions later this year...

But all of this will take a big push by a lot of people to get traction...And that is very unlikely...

BTW, I am not a rabble rouser by any means...I just want the party that agrees with me more than the other one to understand that they are not representing my best interests...Its really that simple...

The GOP is toast. Time for something new.

I tend to agree ...... but what? This frustrates me to no end.

When I read the headline, I thought that if McCain wins, Bill and Hillary will formally divorce. Silly me.

Both parties could experience a revolt this year. If the Democratic nomination is unclear at the convention and the Clinton machine uses its power to cheat Oboma, look for a wide revolt.

The same way candidates forced on us by the moderate establishment always do.

I’m slowly coming to the realization that I may never vote Republican again. Which means, in all likely hood, I’ll never even vote again.....

Conservatism is NOT POPULAR with the masses at this time. Maybe if we focused on bread and butter issues (less regulation, more national security including enforcement of immigration laws), we could pick up some traction.

Instead, we have a bunch of fools screaming about the "culture war" above all other issues. Even a legitimate issue like immigration enforcement is wrecked by the Wal Martians who whine about how "Mexicans are rewnin' our culture", which turns ALOT of people off.

Before we whine like a bunch of little b-tches about how the "media hates us" and "the GOP has abandoned us" let's be realistic about how the CONSERVATIVE brand has been damaged in the US and how, even though people may live conservatively, the masses are moving to the left on key issues.

The only way we can recapture the masses is to stop emphasizing parochial issues and whining about the "culture." The culture will take care of itself without politicians (on either side) getting involved. We need to speak to the REAL concerns of the electorate before we can even think about being "abandoned."

See, this is what all of the Anyone-but-Hillary crowd fail to realize. If they throw their support behind McCain, they are derailing the conservative movement in this country. You will be letting John McCain tear this party apart just because it means 4 years in the White House for a Democrat. I’m willing to let the Democrats have those 4 years if it means the conservative base of the GOP stays intact.

Think carefully about what you are doing people.

Time for the FALCONservatives to assert themselves.
Death of the GOP and the Birth of a New Political Party

The time may soon come where many of us say, like Ronald Reagan’s famous quote regarding the Democrat party, “I didn’t leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me.”
