I believe the majority of people are conservative. I think MSM being in the tank for Juan has had an effect...and of course many of the primaries were open primaries.
He certainly is not the candidate of the conservative GOP.
He is a media whore and has been pimped relentlessly by the media...
The POW thing has been way overplayed.
I would also like to believe that. But from soccer moms, to greedy elderly soc sec suckers, to teachers to unions to etc etc...I see America cuddling up to anti-gun socialism.
JaneNC: I believe the majority of people are conservative.
The problem is that there are at least three distinct forms of conservatism -- social, small-government, and national defense. Most Americans are conservative along one or two of those axes, but a distinct minority on all three.
reaganaut1I think a segment of the population is actually more conservative than that same segment was 20 years ago - the 18-30 crowd
I certainly see signs of that. Certainly conservatives on campus are more vocal and engaged than they were in years past. But again there's the question of what's a conservative? Young folks who self-identify as conservative are more likely to be pro-choice and supportive of gay rights than older cohorts.

I have always respected John McCain for his service to our country, and felt sorry for him having to endure what he and others did as a POW. Yes, he was and is considered a hero, like many others who put their lives on the line for our freedom. However, I do not want him to be our Commander In Chief because of his “know it all” attitude. I want a President who listens to the Generals on the ground. It disturbs me that McCain tries constantly to take credit for the surge when the success of the surge goes to General Petreaus.
Now we are electing our President, and war hero or not, we look for a candidate who has a record and stands on issues that is in line with our beliefs.
When I looked at all the candidates in the beginning, I found Fred Thompson to be the candidate for me. I was for Fred all the way, until he dropped out. I then had to look at the rest of the candidates in even more detail.
Now it is obvious that Huckabee and Paul have no chance of winning the nomination. That brings us down to McCain or Romney. Just weigh the option of McCain or Romney in detail realizing just these few facts:
McCain is for amnesty and open borders, Romney is not.
McCain cant be trusted on taxes, Romney can.
McCain is for McCain/Feingold, Romney is not.
McCain is for the fairness doctrine, Romney is not.
McCain is endorsed by the New York Times, Romney is not.
McCain is pushed by the MSM, Romney is not.
I hope folks consider the two options and vote for Romney on Super Tuesday!
Can anyone name one person who describes themselves as Conservative who supports this clown. Neo-Cons don’t count
