The D race has tightened a bit, but right now my money is on the Clintons.

I am going to probably project an R winner before 2/5.
At this time McCain is in the lead.
And I did actually end up voting for Mitt here since Fred had dropped out.
I wasn’t very happy about it, but McCain is one of the least acceptable candidates currently running in America.

Not that it helped. Sorry.

As for the general, I would rather run against Obama than hillary.
Contrary to the popular thinking here, I believe that he would be a weaker candidate than hillary.

He would get the black vote for sure, but so will hillary.
He will get the dems tired of an R in the WH, but so will hillary.
He will get a sizable number of white voters, but less than hillary.
He will tank with most hispanics.
Hispanics will not back a black candidate in numbers enough to sway an election, and the clinton game plan has to be banking on those numbers to flip one SW or Mid West state that went R in 04.
There is the race factor, and it will play a part in diminishing his numbers outside of the black community.

What a clinton has to do - and they are doing - is look at the electoral vote columns and they are looking very good for them, IMO.

Hold on to the Kerry states and flip just one more with a wise choice of a VP (Richardson?) who brings something to the table and there it is.

Were I a Dem, I would be pretty happy so far.

Did one of McCain’s wives get in trouble for shoplifting? I some how remember something to that effect.

Well sort of I guess. If you consider stealing drugs "shoplifting".

Oh Goody, now both Rudy & Schwarzenegger endorse McCain. Why am I not surprised at this RINO lovefest.

because Rudy (and Huck) realizes that Romney would destroy the GOP if he won.

To tell the truth, I’ve listened to him about five times in the last five years. It’s not that I don’t like him, I just haven’t put that on the top of my list of things to do.

As for him being full of himself, I think that’s part of his schtik. I laugh at it.

The best thing the Dems got going for them is the inter-ideological warfare inside the Republican party. (As evidenced on FR btw)

constitutionalist is not conservative.

"Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?… Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?…The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking—not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness."

As for your idea to drop out until after the election, I’ve given it some thought. I hate to just leave for months at a time, but his is going to be a real pain watching folks talk up the likes of McCain all year.

no working strategy in his presidential campaign

He had a strategy. It just didn't work. This makes it sound as though he had no strategy.

“Not only will I NOT vote for McCain, but I will also NOT vote for any Congressional or state and local Republicans as well. The GOP is dead people.”

You certainly work hard to live up to your chosen web-name.

Rudy’s got to be kicking himself for this “I’ll wait until Florida” strategy. If McCain, who has done far more to anger conservatives than Rudy, can be leading at this point imagine where Rudy could have been if he had stayed in the picture?

Not that I particularly liked Rudy but I think with this suicidal swing to McCain the Republican party is paving the way for a Democrat President.

I would feel a little better if McCain picks someone reasonable for VP.

So would I, but I don’t think that that is McCain.
Its a different type of character than mine that he follows. - Not knocking it, just saying.

Character, in the long run, is the decisive factor in the life of an individual and of nations alike.

Stick a fork into the GOP. The Rockefellers are now in charge and can finally kick the conservatives to the curb. Not only will I NOT vote for McCain, but I will also NOT vote for any Congressional or state and local Republicans as well. The GOP is dead people....

The GOP is alive and well, people. The new GOP.

Now I know how Ronald Reagan must have felt in 1962 when he left the Democrat party. Only I have nowhere to go.
