McCain is consistently pro-life on abortion.

Romney becomes pro-life when he plans to run for President.

This is one of many reasons why I’m not sad about yesterday’s result.

McCain is pro-life on abortion but pro-death on embryonic stem cells. He is not consistent.

I vetoed a bill that the Legislature forwarded to my desk. . . . I understand that my views on laws governing abortion set me in the minority in our Commonwealth. I am prolife. I believe that abortion is the wrong choice except in cases of incest, rape, and to save the life of the mother. . . . Because Massachusetts is decidedly prochoice, I have respected the state's democratically held view. . . . You can't be a prolife governor in a prochoice state without understanding that. . . . At the same time, the starting point should be the innocence and vulnerability of the child waiting to be born. . . . In some respects, these convictions have evolved and deepened during my time as governor. . . . Roe v. Wade. . . . those who wrote our Constitution would wonder why the federal courts had peremptorily removed the matter from the authority of the elected branches of government. . . .

This tells me that Romney would basically govern pro-life, especially if you take him out of Massachusetts, and that he would nominate justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade. That's good enough for me.

McCain is not all that pro-life. He is a coward on the issue that fought tooth in nail to keep pro-life issues from comoing to the floor for votes.

Of those that are left, I am going to have to side with Huckabee on the life issue.

McCain is consistently pro-life on abortion.

How can people still be so uninformed?

When was the last time you heard McCain go out of his way about encouraging a culture of life (or the first time for that matter)?

McCain supported Roe v. Wade:
In NH in 1999 McCain told reporters that "in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade." He explained that overturning Roe would force "women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations."

In 2006, campaigning for the GOP nomination as a conservative, McCain said the opposite.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Let me ask one question about abortion. Then I want to turn to Iraq. You're for a constitutional amendment banning abortion, with some exceptions for life and rape and incest.

MCCAIN: Rape, incest and the life of the mother. Yes.

McCain still supports the use of federal funds -- our tax dollars -- for embryonic stem cell research, Romney does not.

Initially supporting the President's restriction as to federal funding, McCain then asked for an expansion to include wider research saying, "I believe that we need to fund this. This is a tough issue for those of us in the pro-life community. I would remind you that these stem cells are either going to be discarded or perpetually frozen. We need to do what we can to relieve human suffering. It's a tough issue. I support federal funding." Source: 2007 GOP primary debate, at Reagan library, hosted by MSNBC May 3, 2007

McCain signed a letter from 58 Senators to the President Dear Mr. President:

We write to urge you to expand the current federal policy concerning embryonic stem cell research....

McCain is consistently pro-life on abortion.

Except for those instances where he said he was against overturning Roe v. Wade, or when he said he wouldn't do anything to stop his teenage daughter from having an abortion (he lives in a state that requires parental consent for minors to get abortions).

I think it would be better to say that McCain is PUBLICLY pro-life ... behind the scenes he has worked tirelessly to keep pro-life legislation from coming to a vote or even out of comittee,, he is the epitome of a Washington insider playing the “How can we fool them today” game... He isn’t fooling me or most of the people here.
